Citizen complaint of the day: Comcast sucks even more than usual with Allston Christmas approaching

A pissed off citizen files a complaint that Comcast has plastered every last square inch of vertical surface in Cleveland Circle with ads:

Comcast has posted flyers on trees, electrical boxes, my door, the cars. We get it. Comcast sells cable. This has to be littering. I asked them to stop and they told me to "duck" off. The rule is "post no bills".

Comcast uses alot of contractors. I'm sure its an independent sales agent (from looking at the photos) looking to drum up business.

I question why Comcast does this.. its not like we have alot of options for cable tv service in this area. 99% of the time you're going to just call 800-COMCAST to order service, not sure why they need 'value add' sales agents.

Allston has access to RCN, which is pretty much better in every way. Comcast needs to do all this advertising so students don't find out they can get 500mbps internet with HBO Go for $50/month. RCN even rolled out gigabit speeds a few months ago.

RCN is just as bad with the aggressive marketing. I get handfuls of flyers and door-to-door salespersons, in spite of the fact that RCN doesn't even serve my end of my street. (And although we've contacted them repeatedly and told them we are interested in switching for close to 10 years now, they have shown no interest in extending their reach the necessary 150 feet.)

I love RCN the service. Good Internet Good Customer support.

They do however have shitty contract reps.

One showed up said he was working for RCN. I said "Dude you are WEARING a DirectTV shirt." and he was like "No, I just wore the wrong shirt today"

The sales agent is needed for this conversation:

"Do you make phone calls?"

"Yes. I have a cell phone."

"Do you ever have problems with dropped calls?"

"Sometimes"

"For $25 I can give upgrade you to a landline and 3 months of free HBO and since you said you do a lot of streaming the Plus internet."

"Thank you!"

I thought that 6th number was another 7 (without the slash on the stem), but I see that he used the same weird character in "617", so you may be right. Classic case of poor handwriting negating the entire message.

I asked them to stop and they told me to "duck" off.

Funny that--it's the exact same thing I tell Comcast contractors when they're trespassing in my apartment building knocking on doors and dumping their shitty flyers in the vestibule. Then I call the police.

I keep calling netblazr and they keep telling me my house is too short. I have an unused chimney, or they could put the receiver on a post, I really don't get it.

They keep telling me to convince my taller neighbors to pay hundreds per unit in installation fees before they'll do business with me. I am not their unpaid salesman so I refuse and lose a lot of respect for the company every time they blow me off.

It was a nice dream once, though.

why do I only see exactly ONE of the offending flyers in the photos submitted with the complaint? And I love how this was reported as "Student Live In Issues." No wonder 311 noted the complaint as "Case Closed - No Code Violation Found" so quickly.
