They have a hot smoked salmon sandwich, though. It's good, but it's no lox and schmear.

I skipped those toroids this morning and cruised on down to Union Square Donuts for treats. All the carbs, no waiting!

As I said to my husband the other night: "Maybe we should stop at Aeronaut before all the students figure out the transit system".

Apparently our sons had a similar communication over going to Tosci's.

Or the bike lanes. Either. Still have a last chance to get places before the hoards "discover" them and find their way.

Funny thing, Swirly:

My Ex's cousin, Tenured Elsewhere, doing a fellowship stint at Harvard last semester, and I, ran into one another at the Stah on Beacon. After a first meeting at the Burgah Place across the street, we decided to meet again before he took wing to the Home School.

Wandered him around my neighborhood here, then bought him a beer at Aeronaut. He was out of his mind about that place. "I have no experience Outside Harvardlandia. I can't get over how Good things are, despite what colleagues tell me."

Union Square Donuts is less hipster than Bagelsaurus? I'm not buying it.

I love their $4 vegan gluten free cross-fit approved maple bacon cronut/free tune-up on my fixie bike combo!

Overpriced and overhyped.

Best locally made bagel in Cambridge is at Mariposa in Central.

I am discovering that some people just like to stand in line. It makes them feel like they're getting something important. Another place that people stand in line that isn't worth it is that Bartley's hamburger place in Harvard Square. What's up with that? Although in that case it's mostly tourists.

If they stayed open later I'd stop on my way home once in a while. But it sure isn't worth leaving work early and/or waiting in a line. It's just standard fare burgers with slightly humorous names.

Still, Bartley's is one of the few classic Harvard Sq places left. So there's that.

They're good bagels, but I get annoyed if I can't get a seat. I see a line like that and keep going.

There is a Bruegger's about a block away that's usually deserted.

To each his own.

That place is overrated. Plenty of other good places to go. This is an example of the sheep effect, if there is a line it must be good.. Gunther Tooties is way better
