What was question 4?

It was only on the ballot in scattered districts (like Mike Rush's in West Roxbury/South Brookline).

What does it mean when its only in some districts? How does it passing affect the state?

So it doesn't really mean anything.

"Shall the State Representative from this district be instructed to vote in favor of a nonbinding resolution calling on the federal government to support the right of all people, including non-Jewish Palestinian citizens of Israel, to live free from laws that give more rights to people of one religion than another."

I worked a polling place that had a 2nd Suffolk contest. In mid- to lower JP (not DW turf) at 19-7, it was Sonia 987, William Leonard 59 and write-ins 13. Wilkerson did a little better in subsequent home ground precincts, but still in the single digits.

You gotta wonder how much she would have lost by if the FBI bust and her suspension of the campaign had not happened right before the vote. I had figured she'd lose by about 80%/5%/15%. The real numbers may end up 91%/5%/4%.

Sic transit gloria mundi, Di.

It's Chang-Diaz with 92.5% of the vote. Think Wilkerson will do the right thing and resign in the morning?

would Sonia be able to take the seat early (perhaps by appointment), or would it have to remain vacant until January? I don't know what the law says about this situation.

People should be asking the same question about Jim Marzilli, now that his successor (Ken Donnelly) has been officially elected.

The Globe gets right on Chang-Diaz's case, demanding to know what she's going to do to make Wilkerson voters hate her less.

Mike Ball, who was at her victory party at the Alchemist last night, writes:

... Sonia really has two jobs as senator-elect. The hardest will start even before she announces staff or agenda. She has to go back to those neighborhoods and their leaders she has visited so many times in both her 2006 and the current campaign. Many want more face time and ear time with her. She's going to have to take a lot of notes, hear their side, give hers and go for understanding. ...
