Boston's all-night dining options shrink 50% as Brighton IHOP temporarily shuts

The signs on the doors of the IHOP at 1850 Soldiers Field Road today blamed electrical problems for closing the 24-hour restaurant, leaving the South Street Diner on Kneeland Street Boston's only sit-down restaurant open 24 hours a day seven days a week. Mid-afternoon, a utility crew worked on the Birmingham Parkway side of the IHOP.

When did that happen? I'm getting old.

Victoria's is still 24 hours, but only on the weekends.

I am sure some are wrong. One article list had the Himalyan Bistro in their "top 10" 24 hr Boston restaurants.

I'd love to see that :-).

Victoria's Diner is open 24 hours, but only on weekends. And Bova's is a bakery, not a sit-down place. Hmm, I wonder if the Dorchester bowling alley has things to eat at 4 a.m.?

True that Bova's isn't a "real" restaurant, but they do have pizza and sandwiches, which is close enough at 3 am.

South St, Bova's, Victoria's (Thurs-Sun only), and Adam's Pizza and Convenience near Haymarket (which I think may be gone) were the only other 24-hour places I had on my late-night list.

New Moon Villa is open till 4am, but that means eating at New Moon Villa. Beantown Taqueria and the Harvard Square Tasty Burger are better 4am options, but only go that late Thurs-Sat.

They're not.

The Regional Plan Association, a pro-development industry group, suggested it. The MTA said no.
