Love their food! Great sandwiches at the deli counter.

What's another Polish or East Europe foods specialties shop/s around the area?

There's Baltic Deli & Cafe in Andrew Sq. across from Cafe Polonia and my personal favorite, the ever friendly and well stocked Euromart on Dorchester Ave in between Andrew Sq and Columbia Ave.

A few years back...I went to one of the Polish markets/delis in that area. In the back they had a counter with a very, very extensive selection of sausage. I went to order a sausage sandwich and the young lady behind the counter asked which kind I wanted. Uh.....How about Kielbasa? She politely replied that they ALL were kielbasa and suggested that I might want the smoked variety. Sounds good! And it was. Near the register they had those Polish jelly donuts so naturally I bought a few. You know, to make it a balanced meal.

So which market did I describe? Tons of sausages at the back, donuts up front?

I really should go back to try them all again anyhow. Just never make it to that part of town much lately.

That’s DJ’s! The donuts (paczki’s) were featured on Chronicle a few years back.

because whenever I walk into any of these excellent places, the counter help greets me in Polish.

They're all terrific, but Baltic has an amazing selection of Polish hams. Just used some very fine Polish prepared horseradish from DJ's the other night on a beef short rib sandwich at home. (Technically, it was three sandwiches, slider-sized, on French rolls from Iggy's, plus mayo and some black pepper. Wicked.)

For the record, those donuts are pronounced "pawnch-key", with the "aw" slightly nasalized. (As with many foreign languages, my only Polish words are food words. I know a few toasts, too.)

Go to Andrew Square. Either head up Boston Street to Mount Vernon, then a left on Dot Ave, or head out on Dot Ave, then right on Mount Vernon, then another right on Boston Street. Honestly, nothing to see off Boston Street or Dot Ave, but those streets would be worth the visit.

Oh, and Andew Square itself is a bit of a shithole. And yes, I would have used that phrase a month ago, because it's been a bit of a shithole for a while.

And what I say must clearly be true since I wrote it in all caps.
