Haley Scott reports these signs have gone up at what's left of the Government Center garage.
just jinxed it
They said, "IF".
Linus Van Pelt when he was waiting for the Great Pumpkin.
If there's a parade, when would it be? I'm assuming not Monday because late night plus flight home. Tuesday? Wednesday?
The players like to get it over with quickly, but Tuesday seems like a bit sooner than would be practical.
these people make, they should be able to accept a few days wait to hold their ego fest.
If there's a chance of enough snow on the ground to cripple the MBTA* let's do it the day after that, like they did last time
*for purposes of this post, it does take snow on the ground to cripple the MBTA and not a butterfly in Brazil beating its wings like every other day
the parade was on Tuesday after the Super Bowl.
Have the parade in Foxborough this time.
This " Waaahhh. Waahhhh the League demands we hold the parade immediately after the game before the season officially ends". and Waaahhh Waaahhh the players don't want to have to come back to participate " is such pathetic BS. And shame on the City for caving into such nonsense.
The fans of the Cleveland Browns waited until the week-end after their season ended this year to throw a parade for the team and none of the players showed up.
If the players can't be expected to show up for a parade at a specified date and time that minimizes inconvenience for the rest of us, then perhaps team management should reconsider the bloated salaries they are paid.
And given the resources that the City and other agencies have to commit every time this nonsense happens, then it should be the City that decides when the parade is held, not the team or the league.
How dare they inconvenience us when we have the audacity to want to honor them?
If memory serves from the 2015 parade, the players' contract only requires them to stick around for three days after the end of the season, which is essentially why the parade that year was on Tuesday and the City frantically tried to clear snow from the parade route.
I don't think team management has much choice about that since it's probably standard as part of the collective bargaining agreement between the NFLPA and the owners. The only factors which have much impact on the salaries are the salary cap and the relative level of demand for a given player's skills (which may include the ability to drive ticket and merchandise sales).
Were they celebrating their Perfect record? #1 in the draft?
Damn the NFL has become silly. And increasingly irrelevant.
Maybe the players want to get home, and not wait until Saturday for the parade. It's not like all of them permanently live in MA/RI area.
Point to where you were actually inconvenienced.
the morning of one of these ego fests. When you aren't allowed to board a train because it's already overcrowded with drooling Pats fans( as happens EVERY time we're subjected to this nonsense), I'd say that qualifies as inconvenience.
So why not support holding the parade/rally in Foxborough instead?
You actually have to share PUBLIC transportation with other members of ... THE PUBLIC!
How can you ever withstand such a massive indignation?
I have. Quite a few times now. It's a little more crowded and a lot more jovial. Maybe you should lighten up.
I understand the utility in this instance, but I would be so depressed if I was following a parking garage on social media.
proactive about this than the City has. Walsh has yet to say anything at all about a possible parade.
History has shown that when cities plan victory parades, the parades end up happening in other cities. So you know that the city has a plan, just like the City of Philadelphia, who announced their victory parade before the Eagles lost to the Pats in 2005, have a plan. Come 10 PM on Sunday we will hopefully hear all about the plan.
