Time to bang the drumstick slowly: RIP, Larry

Johanna Griffiths reports Larry the Turkey died tonight as he lived: Challenging a vehicle at the intersection of VFW Parkway and Baker Street.

According to my husband, a cop was there around 7:15 removing his body.

Confirmation comes from Derek Rubinoff, who at 6:50 p.m. may have been one of the last to see Larry still alive before his date with destiny - and the grill of whatever vehicle cut him down in his prime. Upon hearing of Larry's leaving, Rubinoff returned to the intersection and saw his now inert body on the median.

It's funny it's never occurred to me,but I don't think I've ever seen turkeys in the arboretum.
Coyotes yes,Deer yes,homeless people,and drug dealers fy8but not turkeys.
I wonder what the staff does to keep them from establishing a presence on the premises.
Then again maybe it's a question I don't want to ask.

I should have savoured the moment. Little did I know it would be his last.

RIP Larry, I'll be there tomorrow to add a bouquet of Cranberries and Sage to your growing memorial.

All of the drivers backed up behind Larry are following too closely.

If they’d given themselves more space they could have easily driven around him.

RIP, Larry. We hardly knew ye.

I meant to ask you how to stop that car
I always meant to ask you about the war
And what you saw across a street too far
Did it leave a scar

Or how you navigated with wings of fire and steel
Up where heaven had no more secrets to conceal
And still you found the ground beneath a wheel
How did it feel

Bang the drum slowly play the pipe lowly
To dust be returning from dust we begin
Bang the drum slowly I'll speak of things holy
Above and below me world without end

I meant to ask you how when everything seemed lost
And your fate was in a game of dice they tossed
There was still that line that you would never cross
At any cost

I meant to ask you how you lived what you believed
With nothing but your heart up your sleeve
And if you ever really were deceived
By the likes of me

Bang the drum slowly play the pipe lowly
To dust be returning from dust we begin
Bang the drum slowly I'll speak of things holy
Above and below me world without end

Gone now is the day and gone the sun
There is peace tonight your story done
But the songs of my life will still be sung
By the light of the moon you hung

I meant to ask you how to forage that field
I meant to wish you well
And be the one beside you when you fell
Could you tell

Bang the drum slowly play the pipe lowly
To dust be returning from dust we begin
Bang the drum slowly I'll speak of things holy
Above and below me world without end

optional.

PRAY, LOVE, REMEMBER
Let’s all raise a toast to bold Larry:
He of avian eyeball most hairy.
Mean as any fishwife!
I'll salute your fierce life
Eating bread stuffing made with rosemary.

So... Was he delivered?

I'd say RIP, but given how he lived I doubt it's possible.

Why did the turkey cross the road?

To not get to the other side.

I say there is a good chance someone threw out some poison to the poor prick.

I've stared Larry in the eyes on more than one occasion, If I had to guess, he was elderly and on his last legs as it is, so hopefully he died in his sleep.

It was broadcasted over BAPERN last night:

On that Hit and Run, resulting in genus Meleagriscide, at VFW Parkway and Baker Street on the MSP side.

Looking for a pale blue 1968 Plymouth Road Runner 2 door with Arizona tags, unknown direction of flight, operated by a scraggly looking dude with pronounced long ears answering to the alias of Wile E. Coyote, Super Genesis, residing in Monument Valley, AZ and is a regional sales rep for the ACME corp.
