Orange Line shut by a small fire on the tracks; firefighters didn't need to use an axe

The MBTA cut the power to both sides of the Orange Line at Back Bay around 12:30 after trash between the tracks just outbound from the station burst into flames. The fire was quickly extinguished and the Boston Fire Department returned the scene to T control around 12:45 so that power could be turned back on.

Even a small fire could cause massive panic if the subway filled up with smoke. These fires are happening too often on the MBTA.
