By 5:15, delays were up to 35 minutes and Park Street was jammed. Photo by Sarina Tracy.
Like a horse refusing to enter a stable, a train about to enter Alewife decided nuh uh, and now the MBTA reports delays on the Red Line of up to 25 minutes as "official works to move the train into the station." Try sugar cubes?
When you see employees remove their vests, the police get in their cruisers and beat feet and others flee to the surface you know it is going to be a long wait.
But that's like saying tomorrow is Friday..
Well the state and city just dumped $25 million on Amazon, on top of the 100s of millions of dollars given to other corporations to move into the Seaport Corporate Welfare District, since we need to bribe corporations to move here. Understandable, since the infrastructure is crumbling, but ironic since that money would be better spent making Boston a more functional, and therefore attractive, place to do business.
If the T contracted with a company to build some new Red Line trains, this would eventually be a thing of the past. If only.
I'm sure these dozen chickens would agree.
Anon is griping about $25 million in tax breaks, and I counter with over $500 million invested in the Red Line. That it had to wait until late in the Patrick administration/early in the Baker administration to happen instead of 10 years earlier is regardless.
The $20 Million from the state is all infrastructure/transportation improvements, with the other $5 million being property tax breaks from the city. The MBTA has (and is) making major investments in the system that will be coming up in the next few years, too.
Good thing the citizens re-elected all the incumbents and virtually every incumbent I can remember running in the City of Boston because they understand the problem better than anyone else and can therefore fix the problem better than anyone else.
and our elected official are missing in action. I can hardly wait for candidates to start door knocking to tell us (again) about the commitments to make things better. If Baker isreelected or DeLeo or et al, we have no one to blame except ourselves
Damn you Old Man Winter!!!
Couldn't enter Green cause it lost it tick,
Excuse this time? Train needed a mechanic.
Not quite as concise as Adam's T rhymes. But he is the master.
I always wondered if I'd be able to spot myself in one of the "T debacle crowd shots" and there I am. Green shirt on the southbound platform near the green line sign. Must be true that the camera puts on pounds as I'm looking a smidgen puffy!
Left work at 4:30 yesterday and arrived home in Quincy just after 6. Usually home just after 5 so it was a bit more than the 25 minute estimated delay.
The MBTA is badly in need of a huge overhaul. It is incredibly screwed up, which it always has been, but it's a hell of a lot worse now.
It's time that the people in charge of the T stepped up to the plate and fixed the problems--now, before there's a complete breakdown of the MBTA and people are screwed out of transportation entirely!
