Angry guy who was asked if he could punch a girl decided he could; now he faces a criminal charge

Police say a man who accidentally spilled beer on fellow concertgoers at the House of Blues on March 30 wound up getting in an argument that ended with him about to punch a woman, only to stop when she asked "You're going to hit a girl?" a BPD detective told the Boston Licensing Board this morning.

The man walked away. But, Lt. Det. Stephen Meade continued, he wasn't letting it go: He returned a few minutes later with another beer, which he intentionally dumped on the woman's head - and then he punched her twice in the face.

Meade said the man now faces a charge of assault and battery in Roxbury Municipal Court.

Meade said the man, held by House of Blue security, admitted intentionally pouring the beer on the woman the second time, but denied punching her - he said he actually got between the woman and another woman to keep them from fighting. The woman's story, however, was confirmed by several other people on the floor of the large music hall, he continued.

The woman initially declined medical attention, but later went to South Shore Hospital, where she was treated for a concussion and a contusion, Meade said.

The board decides Thursday what action, if any, to take.

Looks like this was a show by Dashboard Confessional. I would expect fans at that show to be singing along and being pretty cool to their neighbor.

Doesn't matter what band is playing; a mean drunk's gonna be mean.

He should also be charged with aggravated beer-wasting.

And...thus it ends there...but no.

You nailed it. Mean drunk's gonna be mean. Glad he didn't write any graffiti, he'd be in real trouble.

For any youngsters reading this who may not have a lot of experience with drinkers: A lot of people -- probably most people -- get mellower when they drink. Some people get mean every time they drink. Everyone who's been around drinkers often enough has seen these people. It only takes one of them to ruin everybody's good time, as described in this story.

Mean drunks are the main reason I don't go to bars.

You don't? Huh.
My petite female frame has an equally petite female fist. A standard-sized grown man's fist would do a lot more damage than mine, but then again, I don't use physical violence against people. But, of course, you don't think it matters if a man hits a woman. F*ck off dRumpster.

When I have said that, it was a reminder that whatever jerk was threatening me was going to be hella embarrassed to his friends after he got his arse kicked by a girl.

I don't care - jerks don't scare me and I'll take them on. They care, though.

Please tell me you aren't bringing some sort of #notallmen nonsense into this. Because men do commit the vast majority of violent crimes, this being but one example.

At least not as far as the police are concerned.

Really, bosguy22?

Well, let me put it this way. As a woman, I would rather be smacked by a another woman than a man as men, in general, are stronger in the arm area then women and a man's punch can really hurt a woman, like give her, say a concussion .
