Per John’s website, he wanted to diversify while in college so he became “the first white student to join the gospel choir and to pledge the local chapter of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha.” Yet, as you point out, there are no POC in this commercial.
Sounds like another white man saying he understands the plight of a black man but when it comes to it, he doesn’t acknowledge their existence.
