That must be some fare

New York cab in Boston

HD spotted this New York cab tooling around our fair Hub this morning, wonders what the fare was (if it were on the meter, it'd be roughly $544 one way, but fares have to be negoiated past Westchester).

NYC Yellow and Green Cabs are often in Boston. Last year I saw a Chicago cab in the city. Nice fares!

Airports closed, uber/lift drivers refuse to drive him to Boston, There is a lot of wealth in Boston, this may have been some one who works for a tech giant and probably left nyc 2 in the morning and had to be in Kendal Sq Cambridge by 8 In the morning, regardless of cost to taxi fare and don’t forget tip .

Clearly on its way to Cambridge to steal some fares.

A NYC taxi driver or his friend needed to pick someone up at Logan and took the cab to do it. Sure, there are occasionally oddball cases where people hail cabs for ridiculous distances, but odds are that's not the case here. (But who knows?)

The cabbie owns his or her own car and uses it like their private vehicle when they are not taking fares.

This is a road trip.

My guess: the driver owned the cab, and took a vacation in Boston.

...that they're bringing turkeys to Brookline.

The Brookline turkeys want to expand their empire to NY, but being rather dim they didn't realize that calling a NY cab to take them was stupid and expensive.

Movie prop cars.

From their 1939 short film "We Want Our Mummy" where the boys hailed a NYC taxi and informed the cab driver to head to Egypt... and he actually drove them there.

At least it's reliable. I can't tell you how many missed Amtrak trips I've had due to the Red Line crashing. Amazon will take one look at our subway and say nop-a nope.

Set props for something being filmed here?

Bringing Junior to college in the family car - which happens to be mom's taxi/dad's taxi.

Cabbie's kids go to college, too!

That minivan one would work really well.

Question is, are the kids then allowed to sign up for Uber/Lyft for beer money?

I live in New York (one of the IT guys here keeps stealing the Red Sox coasters off my desk). More than once I've heard cabbies tell me stories of driving fares to Boston. In one instance the passenger was flying from the West Coast to Boston via Kennedy, and she didn't want to get on another plane. He charged her $1,000--I think that's the going rate.

(Also, while home on the North Shore, I've heard Uber drivers talk of long trips. One guy picked up a couple along with their matching luggage from Marblehead neck for a trip to Philly. Similarly, a New York Uber driver drove a family from 5th Ave. near the park up to Harvard Square.)

Longest Uber trip I've ever heard of was Chicago to Buffalo.

I've gotten some pretty long trips from Logan, but nothing out of state. Had someone request a ride to Brattleboro, VT last week, but canceled it before I got to her. Head to the airport on a Sunday evening and you're pretty likely to get a long trip. People just want to get home and will pay an arm and a leg to do so.
