We thought you meant Allston Diner, not AN Allston diner!

Just a heads up, your headline of an "Allston Diner" is confusing. There's a completely different diner called Allston Diner on Cambridge St.

I've changed the headline to mention "A diner in Allston" (the first paragraph already made it clear it was the Breakfast Club, not the Allston Diner).

Why not say the Alston breakfast club diner so no smearing other places?

A "walk-in refrigerator at 75 degrees" isn't a walk-in fridge.

It's a room. Just a room.

...but losing a fridge in summer makes for a sheedy situation.

The first problems were on the 22nd. They fixed them by the 23rd supposedly. On the 22nd, none of the food in the basement or walk-in temperature problems supposedly existed?

Then on the 31st, even though the 23rd showed "no violations", they came back and threw the book at them. I mean, all sorts of stuff above and beyond the walk-in problem. The lack of a menu warning? Like what? They changed the menus between the 23rd and 31st? In a week, they started taping things to the hood that they had never done before? The walls suddenly started peeling on the 24th?

Come on. The walk-in thing is a huge problem. But that door didn't break this week. Why did they even go back after a week when they supposedly gave them an all-clear on the 23rd?

There's gotta be way more to this story.

Basically, if you mess with the bull...you get the horns.

It is odd, but I'm wondering if you have it backwards.

Kaz may be right on the money:

Here's a Herald story from today: http://www.bostonherald.com/business/business_markets/2018/09/second_bos...

"Athanasopoulos says after an inspector shut down his restaurant, it was reopened an hour later by an assistant commissioner....The restaurant had also been inspected last week on Aug. 22 and a re-inspection was required. The following day it passed inspection with no violations."

I'm wondering if it's the inspector, who is the same guy that shut down Sinclair.

"The Charles River Bistro, owned by Chris Sinclair, was also temporarily shut down for health violations last week only to be reopened hours later. Sinclair says the violations were also cited by the same inspector. He said that the process was “unfair” and claimed to have never had a critical health violation at his restaurant."

The key here, perhaps is the combination of the same inspector with the fact that both places were opened up fairly quickly on the orders of an ISD superior.

I'm also wondering if, in the future, I should withhold snarky comments until I find out where the truth lies.

That was something I noticed but didn't connect last week myself. I read the Bistro was shut down then I just happened to bike to the playground next to it last weekend and see a line out the door. I even helped the employees load a large lemonade stand into a moving van. I was super confused.

Then yesterday while looking at the city permit website, I saw the Bistro was still listed as having its permit yanked with no end date. I was even more confused.

It seems like something going on at ISD is messed up. Are the Bistro and Breakfast Club serving dirty, spoiled food or not? Is an inspector making up violations and being left on the job or not?
