MassDOT reports Forest Hills, Alewife and other T parking garages and lots are already full as fans stream to the Back Bay and downtown for The Parade.

When They Say Take Public Transportation....
Never, ever, ever take the T on a day like today.
Drive if you are going to the parade. Park in the South End or Charlestown lots and walk. Enjoy the day and the city (non parade route).
The commute times were less today from the suburbs by as much as 15% today, at least based on what The Google said.
Today is the day like the Andrew Jackson inaugural; the country folk come in and go bigtime show off. I'm sure the amount of beer spilled both pre and post consumption on the commuter rail lines today will be at biohazard levels.

I love the Red Sox and have for longer than many of you have been alive. I also love not having Rick from Epping screaming in my ear about how much he now loves David Price even though he hated him all year.
Go Sox and BPD, make sure you process everyone arrested that lives beyond a 15 mile radius of Fenway thorough Roxbury District Court. That should scare the offenders enough never to screw up again.

My commuter rail train was about 15% late, which, regrettably, was totally normal.
You are exactly right about the afternoon commute, too. The non-regular riders who are on their "one day out to the city for the year" are going to make it a nightmare, replete, undoubtedly, with spilled beer, etc.
This is one of several reasons why scheduling the parade for Halloween was a poor decision - CR traffic on earlier trains (which coincide with parade ending) is always much, much heavier Halloween. The afternoon is going to be a disaster on the CR, with crush loads being denied boarding at Yawkey.

was much better than I feared. Not looking forward to going home mid-afternoon though. Especially as half of the waiting area at North Station will likely be blocked off with the "cage mazes" to segregate Rockport/Newburyport/Beverly train riders from the others (this has been SOP on Halloween for as long as I can remember).

The Red Line was a breeze at 11 am. Just remember to leave the station on the correct side of the parade, because you're not getting across it at street level.
I biked to the parade
Surprisingly, there was very little car traffic through Cambridge, from Inman Square all the way onto the Mass Ave bridge, around 10 am. I locked the bike at Berklee College of Music and watched the parade there.

Well, I'm not going
I'm happy to see the Sox win, but - after they opened up an 8+ game lead on the Yankees the only suspense in this season was "will they break 110" and "will they win the Series in 4".
The team was just too dominant this year. Maybe they should play the Pats now :-)
