That's the way the cornice crumbles in Fields Corner

Crumbling, abandoned building on Geneva Avenue in Dorchester

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, a roving UHub photographer snapped the long abandoned building at 499 Geneva Ave., at Vinson Street, in Fields Corner after parts of it collapsed to the sidewalk. Fortunately, she reports, nobody was hurt (unlike what happened last fall in Allston).

If only Boston had some kind of authority to seize and do redevelopment of these blighted properties.

They are too busy giving subsidies to multi-million or billion dollar entities or giving away city owned land at bargain basement prices.

Too busy giving free shit to illegals and people who refuse to work to worry about that stuff. I don’t think seizing private property is a good plan. Who decides what is a “blight”? Maybe the political donating developers who have their eyes on properties that they’ll convert into transient housing for people who add nothing to the neighborhood as they’ll only be here for a year or two.

According to the city's assessing site, this property is owned by someone in Weston:

This property has been an eyesore for years! I hope the owner is fined up the wazoo / forced to sell (preferably) or fix the property. Tear it down, and rebuild into a gorgeous coffee shop for everyone in the area to enjoy. Ask anyone who lives right off Geneva what they'd like to see on Geneva that doesn't already exist, and you'll hear: coffee shop, coffee shop, coffee shop.

Maybe the Home.stead folks could open a second location.

Perfect location if you want your coffee customers to be at risk for getting hit with a stray.
