Blue Line riders will find this concerning: Something on the tracks might be burning

Update, 4:35 p.m. All-out sent, firefighters to leave, T electricians to fix problem.

Count on not going anywhere fast on the Blue Line right now, because something on the tracks at Bowdoin is smoldering. Firefighters are a bit hampered because whatever it is is under a train, only the power is off due to the possible track fire, but they need the train moved so they can take a look. In the meantime, the T is terminating and starting Blue Line service at Government Center.

That's two fires on the blue line on back to back days.

I was there when the whole thing started. Smoke was coming out of the tunnel. Nothing too intense, mind you. There was a grand total of one T employee there who kept running back and forth from the area where the smoke was, all the way up the ramp and stairs tot he street and then back again. This went on several times. Back and forth, back and forth. Eventually the smoke looked bad enough that she evacuated everybody. One little employee shooing everybody out. It was kind of comical actually. She certainly earned her money today.
