One City Council ring getting crowded with hats: Another candidate declares for seat Tim McCarthy giving up

Justin Murad of Hyde Park has announced he is running for city councilor in District 5 (Hyde Park, Roslindale, Mattapan).

I feel it is the right time to show our community how I can bring a breath of fresh air into City Hall and help better our District by working with each and every resident hearing there questions and concerns.

Murad, a Suffolk University graduate and paralegal with the city legal department, briefly ran in 2017 against incumbent Tim McCarthy, but failed to obtain the required 250 signatures to get on the ballot.

He joins a crowded field that includes Ricardo Arroyo of Hyde Park, Alkia Powell of Hyde Park, Mimi Turchinetz of Hyde Park, Cece Graham of Hyde Park, Yves Mary Jean of Roslindale and Jean-Claude Sanon of Mattapan, who ran twice against McCarthy.
