Brookline turkeys have broken out and opened new salient in Jamaica Plain

Before we lost radio contact, we received a copy of the following urgent message to Marty Walsh from GraceJansen2, holed up somewhere on Jamaica Plain's Moss Hill:

Please increase the city’s response 2 the wild turkeys on Moss Hill. Turkeys are attacking walkers forcing them to carry sticks for defense. My mother has a walker & needs a companion for safety.

On this Mother's Day a few very old Toms --some in full courting display-- have taken a perch or busied themselves trotting about the lawn, gobbling of Miss Jansen as if she had been a contemporary of theirs, believing that they had danced with her and courted her perhaps, confusing time with its mathematical progression, as the old do, to whom all the past is not a diminishing road but, instead, a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from them now by the narrow bottle-neck of the most recent decade of years.

They have grown old in wanting the fruits of spring and of liberty and for them this may be their last battle upon the hills of Greater Brookline before a younger generation begins the saga of love and revolution anew.

Didn't know the noun form of salient.

I'm told that a spray bottle full of water works quite well. They don't like to get wet.

Ah Moss Hill. They want to be able to say they are part of JP but only the parts they like e.g. the Pond. Happy hunting to the turkeys.
