Must be tough to be a New York sports fan

Remember when New Yorkers used to say they don't care about Boston?

Their Yankers are in first place, and almost 150 points ahead of the Sox in winning percentage. I'm afraid this year's Sox team is just not as good as last year's.

No surprise, a New Yorker being a sore loser. I especially like how he takes it upon himself to speak for all the other cities in the country (while insulting some of them, because New Yorker). And he accuses Sox fans of the pre-2004 era of whining, as he writes an entire article that is nothing but whining.

I did like some of the statistics he assembled. Since 2001:

NY: 9 teams, 4 titles
Boston: 4 teams, 12 titles

No sympathy here, NYC.

7 teams, 2 titles to be precise ( the Nets are also a Jersey team, but Buffalo is not).

I know, history metro area and all, but wanted to rub it in some more. (As a native born New Yorker and former Yankee fan).

Shows how much attention I pay to pro hoops especially outside of the Celtics. Granted - the Nets play some pretty forgettable basketball most of the time also.

So - Two baseball (Mets, Yanks), two basketball (Knicks and Nets), three hockey (Rangers, Islanders and Sabres - which I also forgot earlier) and the Bills. - So 8 teams and 2 championships in almost two decades.

I think that touches them all - at last.

Boston is closer to NYC than Buffalo is. Counting the Buffalo teams as NYC while ignoring NJ teams because of an arbitrary border makes no sense.

New Yorkers have themselves to blame. Boycott the crappy teams until the morons like James Dolan and the Wilpons sell their their teams.

I can see it now. Crowds marching down Broadway chanting "Keep the Duck Boats docked! Keep the Duck Boats docked!"

I love New York! The fans are great. To bad about their teams.
