Looks like the docks took the worst of the damage. The bikes are pretty durable.
Subculture who hate bikeshare

I'm just an armchair observer but there seems to be a strong subculture of people who wouldn't normally vandalize a bicycle but have no restraint in damaging the shared bikes regardless of which community or program the bikes are associated with. I'm not sure if this one was an intentional act aimed at bike sharing but there have been many incidents where the bikes were knocked over, thrown into a body of water or worse. One of the many local colleges should look into what motivates it.

I can see someone getting pissed at finding a dockless shared bike or scooter blocking a sidewalk and taking "action". (I'm not DEFENDING that.) I'm sure there have been some Bluebikes thrown into bodies of water, but the thing is you pretty much have to rent one to trash it and then your identity is pretty clear. The occasional careless or drunk Bluebike rider may leave a bike not at a dock, but I think that's pretty rare.

There seems to be a not-insignificant population in this country who just seem to be morally offended by anyone who's not driving a gas guzzler. These are the people who key Teslas, block electric charging stations, roll coal and/or put "Prius Repellent" bumper stickers on their pickup trucks.

Those losers are jealous that others don’t hand over their paycheck to Exxon Mobil. Deep down they know they are suckers every time they pull up to the gas pump.

Property damage to your own

Property damage to your own property as well as other property on a sidewalk does not indicate much intelligence.
I think a moving violation may have been committed. Not so bright.
Leaving the scene indicates cowardice.
But if riding bike share bikes is worse to you on the moron scale then you have cognitive challenges of your own, or you are emotionally needy in some way and must troll.
Sorry, but I am not going to be your friend.

It's okay to walk. Not everyone sits on their ass in a car on a bicycle. Try walking, engaging in your community, talking to people in the neighborhood, instead of blowing past on the wheels of a car or a bike.

Dude, chill. No one is going after your bike. The aggressive tone is counter-productive to a civilized discussion, esp. in this Trump-ian era.

If you drive an automobile, and you drive that automobile off of the paved roadway and into other objects in or near the street or off of the roadway and onto the sidewalk, you have demonstrated your inability to safely operate a vehicle. Your license should be suspended on the spot and you should be required to attend comprehensive drivers ed before having your drivers license reissued.

Shockingly some people would suggest that action isn't criminal.
Also we should consider following the San Francisco example and just drop large boulders into the street to protect the public.

is the second most popular station in the system after MIT. And Bluebikes just hit another ride record for most rides in a month last month and just past 10 million total, if there ever was a time and place for bluebikes to make a profit, south station is it. It gets full of bikes in the morning then completely empties out in the evening as everyone commutes home

I have friends in Chicago who I visit semi-regularly. Three times I have been there and taken a Divvy bike (Chicago's docked-bike system, literally the same as Blue Bikes down to the exact same bikes and docks with different branding) to Wrigley Field for a Cubs game.
There is a large Divvy dock at the corner of Waveland and Sheffield, directly behind center field. There are others nearby but none are literally at Wrigley like this one. Right before games, Divvy just parks one of their bike-moving box trucks right by the dock and they have 3-4 staffers freeing up spaces on the dock for people to use and loading the excess bikes onto the truck. One of the times I was there, the truck was packed absolutely full and they had piled up another 30 bikes by the end of the dock, waiting for another truck, and people were still coming to dock their bikes. Pretty impressive!
Oh, what a mess!
