..and on somebody's car. Wicked aggressive

Given the smiley face, I assume the older good luck sense symbolism of a swastika was the intended message. No?

Looks like a youthful 'fuck you' to everybody unless the car owner is the target.

Only some of everybody need to remind the perpetrators that it ISN'T okay to push certain buttons. Look out, l'il scummies.

You have to be kidding, right? You know how few people know that more peaceful meaning of that symbol.
I don't see why you think it's a general F-u. If it's not at the car owner, the swastika symbol is a very specific anti-Jewish symbol primarily. Nazi symbol used nowadays in the US, when sprayed on property, as a purposeful threat or to signify hate against Jews. Not a "general F-U".

There's absolutely no excuse for this kind of disgusting and vicious behavior on the part of anybody, especially given the mood of the country overall, and for the fact that they defaced somebody else's property, in order to do that. The fact that the perpetrator thought it was funny as hell adds an even more vicious and nasty element to this kind of thing, as well.

This is awful. I hope they had cameras or something to catch the little sh**ts who did this.

I don't know if this is the work of crappy teens or actual Nazis but either way I hope there's security footage and the jerks get got.

Just because they're crappy teens doesn't mean they can't also harbor real Nazi ideals.

Little ones grow up to be big ones.

Little ones grow up to be big ones, unless the community at large, as well as their parents, intervene and correct the little ones so that they (hopefully) won't grow up to be big ones.

Maybe they don't understand that symbol meant death to a lot of people.
G would not allow sloppy work like that.

Stop making excuses for them. You'd have to be raised in a small closed garbage can not to know what that symbol means, at the very least in broad outline, which is quite sufficient.

I get it, not all of you are racist, maybe it could even be said that most of you aren't racist. But that ones of you who are, man oh man. The hate is real. The irony being you don't discriminate on who you hate, any non pure bred white American will do. It's never been explained to me why white people think diversity is terrible, and why they don't believe they can co-exist with others though?

people might have to train their fire on their economic and social betters, but that is the socializms.

.... the perpetrators than anyone else who has come forward, maybe you need to give that info to the police.

Not making excuses for ANYONE - this is horrible. But before you go blaming white people - you might want to take a look at the people that shot up the kosher deli in Jersey City a couple weeks ago.

Humans are a tribal breed by nature and the worst manifestation of this tribalism are things like this all the way up to what we did to Indians and blacks and what the Germans did to Jews (plus gays, gypsies and more).

Teach your children well - because if you don't - this is what happens - and WAY worse.

But they've at least tried to explain why the hate who they hate. I think the reason is total BS, but they at least in their mind have some sort of reasoning. At times it feels like the white people who are racist hate everyone who isn't like them.

STOP rationalizaing hate! Simply because one 'has a reason' for hate and bigotry does NOT MAKE HATE and VIOLENCE any less evil!

up
Voting closed 0

Please. From historic evil like the Nazis to localized hatred like how the DR kicked out a bunch of folks whose ancestors were Haitian, justification doesn't justify a single damn thing.

Also 'white people' is doing a lot of work in that sentence.

Sure. But in this country there is a large white group that is incredibly persistent in hating anyone not like them.

If you are not part of this group, this makes no sense. We just see someone choosing to hate someone innocent for no explicable reason. So asking why is a valid question. The answer isn't the same as why a Palestinian or Israeli would explain their conflict.

up

that have tried to explain why their racism? And what is the value of one explaining it? Is something negated if someone provides an explanation?

So they hate a certain group or groups for a certain reason, by rationalizing it, because they'd hate that particular group or groups anyway, no matter what.

The Ku Klux Klan has a long history of being anti-Catholic, as well as anti-black, anti-semitic, and anti this or that. The rationalization for their KKK hating Catholics and Jews is because they both have a history of helping the blacks. It's just a rationalization for groups that the KKK would hate anyway. All haters tend to rationalize their hatred.

You're forgetting who Nazi's loved to hate the most: Jews. And most American Jews are considered white.

Is there any suspect name yet on the May swastika hate crime on Morrissey Boulevard? The incident and manhunt led the local and international news but quickly disappeared as a story once an arrest was made. Not just any arrest but a repeat offender already wanted on an arrest warrant. We were promised a name but haven't heard one. Why? Is that because the suspect was politically connected or just didn't fit the narrative script? If police and prosecutor coverups are an option on felony hate crimes, it's no surprise they continue. As for why white people hate, sometimes they don't but still get blamed. See the Tynan School racist graffiti case in which "white, racist South Boston" will forever be smeared. The case disappeared without a public conclusion when it became apparent that it was a Jussie Smollet-style hoax. The police investigative results of the Morrissery Boulevard and Tynan School "hate crimes" have been carefully withheld while they will live on forever on the web as though they really happened as initially reported. Fake news.

Do you have a specific accusation?

My questions are the five W's on both Morrissey Boulevard and Tynan School. As we hear about new hate crimes, how were these two recent hate crime cases closed? Why wasn't the record firmly corrected to reflect the truth? If Boston doesn't set the record straight, the racist image of the city will be perpetual if not always warranted.

don't you allegedly have friends in the PD? ask them. also while you're there, ask them why investigations of vehicular homicides take like three years, thanks, i'll wait for you to get back to us

I'll offer some insight. I'm not trying to start a debate about bikes or cars or pedestrians. Just trying to offer a couple of specific pieces of information about investigations.

Some delays in motor vehicle fatalities involves the way things are investigated. Most modern cars have EDR (black boxes) in them. As one might imagine, you cannot just get an app on your phone to access/download data from a specific manufacturer's EDR. As such, if a car is in a collision and the police want to access the EDR, they have to pull it from the car (warrants, etc.) and then send it to, let's say, Germany to the Mercedes factory. Turns out folks in Germany have no real legal obligations whatsoever to fulfill Boston PD's requests for information and are also getting requests from anywhere in the world that Mercedes are driven.

Also, gotta say that some investigations would be a but quicker if people just... stayed and talked to the police. There are incidents where a city bus hits a person/car/bicyclist, the police arrive 3 minutes later and every single passenger who might offer an alternative to driver's story has vanished. Not a single person walking or driving by stopped to talk to LEOs and not a single person who was passing bothered to contact law enforcement later. That leaves the operator's story.

Finally, the medical examiners office are probably much busier than you think they are. Each pathologist can only exam so many bodies a day (to do a full exam, complete a certificate and/or write a report). In the case of motor vehicle fatalities, full autopsies are almost always done (and certainly if there was an investigation). So imagine how long it would take most workers in any field to produce a potentially public report that is 15 or so pages long... and then think about how many bodies the ME's office must get a week or even day.

If Fish was a real cop, he'd know all that.

He's trolling. He does this. He's not interested in the answers to his disingenuous questions, he's purely in it to stir shit, and he needs to be called out whenever he does it.

That was a much more thorough and sincere answer than my question merited, and I appreciate it.

Should we assume that the owner of this car moved someone else's space saver?

up
Voting closed 0

If someone's reaction to having his space saver moved is to scrawl swastikas where every passer-by will see them, he's a Nazi.

Are they saying the owner/driver of this van is a nazi, or are the vandals targeting a non-het-cis-white van owner?

up
Voting closed 0

Why would you think a swastika is primarily used to target someone who isn't white or cis or het? IT's vastly more likely to target Jews or be a general statement about Jews, their worth, and what should happen to them. (Jews aren't primarily non-white, non-sis, or non-het. as a group of course)
Swastikas are of course the primary Nazi symbol, and Nazi's go after Jews first. Their largest and most sweeping program to systematically anhilate "undisirables" was called the "Final Solution" and it was against Jews alone. The aim was to make a Europe free of all Jews (Judenreign) Swastikas have been used to target Jews primarily since the 1930s abroad and since the 50s here. It's still mainly anti-Jew.

No one would self-label their car with swastikas. The alt-right and Nazi's use the swastika surreptitiously and don't advertise. Particularly if they are then going to leave the car in a lot. Some innocent person's car was vandalized. Either they were unlucky or targeted because someone thought they were Jewish

for one thing, the Nazis killed pretty much all kinds of people in addition to the Jews: Roma, Gypsies, Catholic clergy people, and homosexuals, as well. Six million Jews, as well as five million other types of people were killed in the Holocaust, plus they even killed fellow Germans and/or Poles, as well as others, who were physically and/or mentally disabled, and Italian POW's, as well. A total of 11 million people were killed in the Holocaust. More to the point, people who were above or below a certain age group (i. e. under 15 and over 40 years old), were killed immediately.

Also, to the Nazis, it did not matter if any Jews were only half-Jewish, or were non-Jewish, but had one Jewish parent, or even one Jewish grandparent or other Jewish relatives, they, too were killed in the Holocaust. The Nazis did not differentiate at all, because to the Nazis, that did not matter. They were super horrible.

They’ll catch whoever did it. I know for a fact there are many cameras on that street

Maybe they drove it after the spray paint and it didn’t happen there. If I had a swastika on my car on a Monday morning I’m still going to drive to work, Life doesn’t stop for graffiti.

Yes, it happened elsewhere and driver rushed to work that morning.. Do we know anything more about who did this? Has a police report been filed?

A woman who spotted it parked (after it was driven to work by necessity) contacted the JP police and the receptionist at the station didn't understand it was a big deal or why she wanted to report it. Receptionist told her to call the mayor's office instead. The woman, who wasn't Jewish, was really shaken that she had to explain to a receptionist (It's possible it's an officer, I thought cops themselves man the front desk there) why swastikas are problematic enough to report to the police. But, the desk person seemingly sent her away. That's being followed up on.

up

It's disgusting that the person at the desk sent the woman away for wanting to report the incident to the police, and it should be followed up on, as soon as possible.

up

People contacting the desk staff in the police station are not going to get the response they need. Usually ever.

Call 911, they'll determine priority and send someone out.

It's nice that people don't want to "bother the cops" when they think it's not an emergency, but the system is setup to handle prioritizing calls.
