Glad the site will be used for something. Would rather see mixed-use ground floor commercial with residential housing above it. Prime location for that.

Well now it will just be a prime beef location.

just wondering if theres any environmental cleanup needed before it becomes a twirly moustache hangout or can they just leave them if they're not ruptured?

Old tanks are removed as well as any soil if contaminated.

have been gone for a while.

They can probably just leave them leaking and call it "gas feed meat."

The tanks were removed late last year.

Coolest logo in the city, I'd say

or JP Oil ... 2 different locations.

Yup, was thinking of JP Oil. I'll have to cancel my order of JP Gas branded merch...

There really isn’t any logo on the sign...just some text.

Cool. Now if only the Jamaica Plain Stamatos Dynasty would do something with the eyesore long vacant gas station at 626 Centre, my life would be complete.

Might be the most underutilized parcel in JP. Right on the corner of Centre and St John, a crumbling former auto shop that functions as a parking lot for half-dozen cars or so.

There are 4 gas stations in that area. What a waste. Centre Street would be so much better without them. They are an anti urban eye sore. Glad one of them is on the way out.

I wish I could afford local grass fed meat. I don't qualify for food stamps, either. Hell, I can't even afford Stop & Shop. Just buy the cheap cuts and slow cook it.

Braise the lord!

Reading "local grass fed meat" in the city makes me think it's either racoon or those brookline wild turkeys. Maybe some mallards from the pond... :)

How local is local you?

There's plenty of cows within 100 miles, which is much closer than feedlots in Iowa.

I know his old place, Meat Market in Great Barrington. really excellent, high quality. This is very exciting.

a motor vehicle or too poor to live in a house to human fuel made from related sentient species for the affluent.
Not a big improvement.

Although I didn’t know you were related to livestock.

This is nominally a blizzard of '78 picture, but it turns out there were even MORE gas stations then!

if I’m helpless against my obsessive need to let people know that I experienced February 2015 snowstorms a few decades from now, please shoot me in the head. I’ll be better off in the ground.

The Blizzard of 78 was quite an experience to live through. You may think 2015 was bad, my friend, but there is no comparison. 78 has a special place in N.E. winter storm history.

So naturally it still makes an impression upon some us who survived it.

But if you wish to be shot in the head...

please tell me again, it's been five minutes since a boring boomer told me about the last interesting thing that happened in their life four decades ago...

also, you can stop gatekeeping storms. if you don't know what gatekeeping is, visit the subreddit.

You simply can't imagine what life was like without smart phones, the net, netflix, and all that fartaceous craft beer shit that you youngins waste all your money on today. We had a week of no cars, and two weeks of no school. Once we were shovelled out, it was time to walk to the packie and return with the flexible flyer stacked with provisions.

But yes I can. I’m old enough to remember all that, and as someone who grew up without those things in MAINE I’m damn sure I lived through some blizzards and ice storms like you wouldn’t believe. But notice how I don’t go throwing that around every comment because I think it makes me special?

Where exactly are these local JP cows or animals that are being sourced?

Boston Common. That's local to JP, and isn't the story that residents* can graze their cattle there?

* I'll have to look it up - maybe it was just white, male, landowning residents.

South shore cows repping Boston are NOT Boston cows.

Too bad they didn't snag the old "Meatland" sign.

Passes that gas station. I take it every week on my way to my 11-7 AM job and I swear those gas station lights are on every night. Whose paying for that?
