....is it because police resources are better used elsewhere?

Or they're lonely and want more people from Brighton to visit?

Is it so nobody has to leave the house to move their car? So people with tandem driveways don't have to knock on their neighbor's door to get the keys?

Maybe people kicked out of college dorms crashing at friends' off-campus apartments, so there's extra cars around?
Maybe temporary because of extra cars around for a lot of people moving out of town due to college campus closures?
Maybe so the person in HQ who processes visitor lot permits (do they still have those or is it all by app now?) and violations can be freed up for more critical duty? ...or go home as non-critical? ...or pointless if the court isn't open to process violation notices and fines?

Saw a guy today in a non electric car pull into the electric car charging only spot at Whole Foods. Noticed something on his windshield. Took a look and it was a Brookline parking ticket from earlier today. No virus will stop drivers from acting entitled and breaking the law around here.

going through a red light and then a pedestrian crossing against the light, texting, of course.

You're right, entitlement and breaking the law is rampant around here.

That didn't happen.

it happened and has more than once. It was a bit of snark to point out that there are bad drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. The response was to someone who thinks all drivers are evil and should be removed from the earth.

Speaking of parking, any news on street cleaning in Boston? If everyone's stuck at home, where are all the cars going to go when half of the street loses its parking one day a week?

NYC suspends alternate side parking for things like this. Boston should too.

NYC does suspend ASP for major storms and some emergencies. However -

NYC has not yet suspended ASP (as of 11 AM 3
/17/2020) EDIT corrected 2/17 to 3/17

I suspect they'll try to keep ASP active as long as possible
- optimistically, it's part of sanitation - they actually do clean the streets in those timeslots. I forget if garbage pickup sometimes aligns with that as well.
- cynically, they want to preserve revenue as long as possible.

In addition to the Federal holidays, NYC suspends ASP for Lincoln's Birthday, Election Day, and the holidays of 6 religions/cultures. It's ridiculous that they haven't suspended it for this crisis.
