Man punches victim in the face and to the ground in Dorchester robbery attempt, police say

Boston Police report a man already wanted on gun, drug and domestic-violence charges now faces robbery and assault and battery charges for an incident Wednesday afternoon at Dorchester Avenue and Hancock Street.

Police say Keon Baker, 28, went up to a 50-year-old man and demand his money and then punch him in the face, knocking him to the ground, around 2:15 p.m.

Police say a BPD detective, stopped at the light, saw the whole thing and got out to intercede, but Baker got on a mountain bike and pedaled away, making it about a half mile:

Officers assigned to District 11 responded and assisted the Sergeant Detective pursuing the suspect. The suspect was eventually stopped on Adams Street and Park Street where he was placed under arrest.

Police say the victim suffered a cut to his forehead, but declined medical attention.

Baker was charged with assault and battery and unarmed robbery, police say, adding he was already wanted on warrants from South Boston court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of class B drugs and assault and battery on a family member.

Innocent, etc.

"Keon Baker will appear in South Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Disorderly Conduct."

Why this person was out of jail so soon, to attack people in the midst of a pandemic, is more than infuriating. This DA will not get my vote again (regret that vote in the first place). Too bad we couldn't vote the judges out.

He’s prob out on bail. Not complete your of jail. That’s on the judge for not setting a higher bail. And on the court system it’s self for pushing court cases months down the road before they take any action on them

That’s how the court system works
