Even as US Rep. Ayanna Pressley was reporting negative results on a Covid-19 test, former Roxbury councilor Tito Jackson was reporting he tested positive. And he has some advice:
Stay your ass at home! This virus is no damn joke. If you don't sit down, it will sit you down, lay you out or even take you out.
Jackson reports he began feeling ill on March 14, when he developed a sore throat and cough:
So if you have been in physical contact with me in that period of time, please consider yourself exposed.
Sadly, I attended a Birthday gathering with about 6-7 folks (all who I had to call and let them know I exposed them, which was hard but so important to do). That evening, I started to have a bad headache and then began to sweat throughout the night. The following Monday, I began to have the worst body aches EVER in my life with all my muscles throbbing with pain. I had shooting pain in my ankles and knees. I also had horrible back pain under my shoulder blades that felt so bad (no I know it was probably radiating pain from my lung inflammation). The last couple days has been pretty good with only a slight cough and the worst is over although, I am quarantined for another 2 weeks to be safe.
Jackson has another word of advice:
All People, including Black people do get Corona and we die from it too, so don't believe the hype.
Corona Viruses don't discriminate. Corona wants to take all of us out. Corona wants all of us, it doesn't profile, it seeks to wreak havoc, illness and harm on all who it can reach.
Black people suffer from the highest rates of all the most significant health issues from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer. We have take this illness seriously or it will take our lives at a serious rate.
