Egret with fuzzy feathers at Belle Isle Marsh

Roving UHub photographer Mary Ellen went up to Belle Isle Marsh on the East Boston/Winthrop line yesterday and reports the marsh was just full of all sorts of birds returning to the area for the summer, including a frazzled looking snowy egret.

Also, a fearless red-winged blackbird took after an osprey:

All that raptor chasing is hard work:

Sometimes birds not of a feather flock together, in this case, a couple of great blue herons and a glossy ibis:

And amazing birds. Thanks Mary Ellen. The Belle Isle Marsh is a treasure that must be preserved.

The Belle Isle marsh is not too far from the Suffolk Downs stop.
It really is a semi-hidden gem, especially if you're interested in birds.

Revere Beach. I walked around the prison camp in the middle.
Not the other side though.
