Baker: Duffers will just have to wait

WBZ reports Gov. Baker says any decision on reopening the state's links will have to wait for a recommendation from the new Reopening Advisory Board he announced yesterday. That board is scheduled to make its industry-by-industry recommendations by May 18 - based on a reduction in Covid-19 cases and hospitalization, which, the governor said today, we've yet to see.

Seems like a great way for the Governor to defer taking any real ownership for some tough decisions that need to be made over the next few weeks/months. Don't get me wrong, I want him to get input from others, but at least have the fortitude to make whatever decisions need to be made as our leader of this state and not hide behind some "Advisory Board."

If the governor were to just make those decisions you'd criticize him for making decisions with no transparency right?

It's an advisory board -- it's making recommendations, not actually making decisions. Sure, Baker might more or less rubber-stamp their recommendations, but that might not be bad if the board is made up of epidemiologists, physicians, and responsible business leaders, rather than the usual Massachusetts cadre of political cronies (looking right at you, Licensing Board and ZBA).

But how are allowing hospitals to do elective surgery and open dentists and physical therapists offices.

Except they've decided dealing with a pandemic is more important right now.

It's dead Jim. "Video removed by uploader."

And, FWIW, they are already looking at June 1.

Take that as a full rumor of course. Caveat Emptor.

Mum.
