Proposed Hyde Park Burger King seeks to emulate West Roxbury Popeyes and open in the middle of a pandemic

The Boston Licensing Board holds a Zoomed hearing Wednesday on a Burger King franchisee's proposal to finally open its built-out eatery at 892 River St.

Northeast Foods, LLC was originally scheduled for a hearing before the board in January on a request to open its outlet on the Hyde Park/Mattapan line, but agreed to defer any action until after it met with residents on the Mattapan side of the strip mall it had its restaurant opened in.

Also, the company agreed to pull back its proposed 2 a.m. closing time to midnight.

The board's hearing begins at 10 a.m.

The new Popeyes on VFW Parkway in West Roxbury opened the first week of April.

The McDonald's next door must be pissed. We were getting some burgers there the other day and one guy couldn't even get out of the McDonald's lot because of the Popeyes line (well, he could have, had he backed up and gone out the exit by the entrance to the McDonald's lot instead of trying to use the exit next to the drive-up lines, but still).
