Man walked down a Dorchester street firing a gun, police say

Seized gun

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man they say walked down Longfellow Street in Dorchester last night while firing a gun into the air repeatedly.

Police say that by the time officers arrived, around 10:40 p.m. Jubal Baggett, 19, had fired five of the six rounds in his Heritage Mfg. revolver and was about to duck into a house on Draper Street around the corner.

Baggett was charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Might be from this collection of 6-Shot Rough Riders:

For making tin cans dance in the back yard, pinging steel, or controlling pests and varmints around the farm, nothing beats the low-cost, high-adrenaline thrill of a single-action rimfire revolver.

Varmints!

I just thought of something. Why do the gun laws suck and not do anything?

Have you looked at, oh, shooting rates in Massachusetts vs. other states?

But in any case, there are limits to what gun laws here can do when guns are so easy to get in other states.

Also, there's a law against murder in Massachusetts, yet nobody ever questions how effective it is. Why is that?

Well, so do I. That's not a gun. Well, it is, but this...this is a gun...

Cops are getting a lot of crap these days. Some of it deserved. But I'm very happy they're taking guns away from Mr. Baggett. Thank you, BPD.

We all had those in the olde days, and shot each other off our back porches. Prominently displayed in the window at Slocum's.
