Spent the night hanging out in the parking lot next to the Kneeland Street steam plant near South Station, as Jed Hresko discovered:

National Guard

Good job people. I wise saying to apply to life that proves true: You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Increase the Peace

They weren't needed!

It seems that Charlie Baker's default response now is to call up the military when citizens decide to exercise their right to protest due to that being such a tremendous threat.

Already forget what happened a few months ago.

Do I remember BPD officers kettling and attacking peaceful marchers with tear gas so that they couldn't go home after the march?

Yes. I do.

I literally watched car loads of people being dropped off at Ave de Lafayette and Wash, run to the crossing and come back with arm loads of goods. A few of them had BLM shirts on, a few had Red Sox shirts on. Almost all had some sort of object in their hand to break windows and or doors.

Yeah some people steal things. Police do too though so they need to start arresting each other.

You can profess that Black lives matter, and also be a thief. You can be a Red Sox fan and be a thief. Or a Yankees fan.

I'm guessing that if they arrived by the carload,as you say, while the peaceful protesters had marched to the State House from Roxbury that night, that they were not part of the protest that had been going on for several hours at that point.

You are aware of this, right?

NYC reported the same thing: organized criminals are famous opportunists. Just look at the Trump Crime Family.

I've got some great waterfront land to sell you in Florida when you are ready for a change in latitude.

when police attack citizens, people are gonna push back.

blame the cops.

the proximity to NH, and the chatter among the white nationalist hill people up there, had many worried about maga agitators mixing in with the crowd to provoke violence or use vehicles as weapons

if someone in all black with ties to magaworld/proud boys/white nationalists (pick one) decides to instigate something by way of arson or god forbid an explosive device, id rather have NG on scene than packs of nervous and anxious riot cops with batons jacked up on Monster and the euphoria of double overtime with danger pay.

At least NG have field medic training as opposed to the "pull trigger until it goes click" mantra of recent police activities.

Given the recent history of fascists and white supremacists attempting (sometimes successfully) to attack and murder peaceful protesters and to turn peaceful protests into riots, I don't think it's at all insane to call out the national guard (whose members, by the way, have not, presumably, been infected by the toxic cesspool of thin-skinned, us-against-them, butt-hurt racism and bigotry that the police unions represent).

It wasn't the BLM or "antifas" that were causing the alleged problems in PDX in that small area that was invaded by mercenaries - not that many of us didn't know that already.

These same white supremacist right wing assholes were impeding the wildfire evacuations by blocking roads with illegal checkpoints. These are President Drumpf's "very fine people" (who he thinks are filthy, but loves their manly manly masculine chest thumping).

If the National Guard didn't have its own extensive history of violence against peaceful protest, I'd be inclined to agree with you in theory. But they do, so I'm not.

Fascinating article and compilation of sources on how and why tear gas has been used to attack first amendment rights to demonstrate.

When there are fires burning near your home, you make sure the hose & extinguisher are handy. You don't just assume you'll run to Walmart later if things get worse.

I'm glad they were available and also not needed.

Same here. I have a lot of respect for
the men and women of the National Guard.

And he kept them out of sight another important tactic.

A Boston Firehouse is not peaceful!

Please show me evidence it happened, besides a single Stacos tweet about people "attempting" to break into that firehouse, which I've seen morph into "stormed and destroyed."

There were a number of reporters embedded in the march, none of them reported any firehouse ravaging. I was sort of half listening to the scanner, with time out to listen just to BFD at a fire on Howard Avenue and heard nothing. Had a fire station actually been destroyed, that would have been a major focus of any BPD radio communications.

that nothing more should be made of the firehouse incident than what Stacos tweeted. But it also shouldn't be ignored

MSM was fine with reporting that a few lunkheads wanted to confront the BPD, but March organizers did a good job reeling them in. Of course that was police they were confronting and no one is gonna cry about that.

However, this incident involved firefighters and MSM aren't going to report that if they can help it.

All the more reason that sources like you & Stacos are crucial to knowing what happens in Boston.

Indeed.

It should be shown to be the fake bullshit that it was as Adam has just done.

Didn't your mother ever talk to you about spreading rumors?

Must have been an anon bot farting into the night.

Bots were never taught to avoid spreading unsubstantiated rumors.

there are always a couple of assholes who get arrested for "disorderly conduct" or similar asshole behavior.

Red Sox games are usually "largely peaceful" as well, with a few that get out of control and end up under arrest.

Way to set an example Boston. Nevertheless we doubtlessdisfavor this situation all the same.
