Bevmire reports:

I felt it in Cambridge. I thought I was back in California.

No reports of damage so far.

Earthquakes are not as common here as in California, but they're not unheard of.

We are on the brink of a new era - if only...

I'm on the third floor of an old brick apartment building. I was sitting in a wheeled office chair when I felt it.

The last time I felt an earthquake here was back in 2011, when the epicenter was in Virginia and it damaged the Washington Monument.

in Dorchester..

we have consistent heavy vehicle traffic on our street and a truck happened to be passing at the time - made me nervous because I wondered what the hell kind of monster truck Feeney was operating at this hour on a Sunday.

Felt that in Forest Hills. Thought it was a train but it shook the whole house.

I don't think it was an earthquake though

...Ocean Bluff section of Marshfield. Rattled the old house I’m visiting & there was even a roaring sound like a big truck going by. Sent me to the window to look out. Not only no truck, no traffic at all. Now sitting on a rock at the beach & can occasionally feel a slight trembling coming through the rock. I assume these are aftershocks. No sensations through my feet though

I most definitely felt this in Jamaica Plain and thought it could possibly be an earthquake. It was a subtle but noticeable tremor. Had I not been standing right at an open window spacing out, I probably wouldn’t have noticed.

When I heard/felt it, I wondered if one of the kids in the apartment downstairs had stuck a dismount from the dining room table.
Or that perhaps our police department had deployed a recently acquired military-surplus tank to quell unrest downtown, after the local Great Harvest outlet ran out of cinnamon-swirl bread.

But I did have a door open and close when I knew no one was in the room. Glad to have a non-supernatural explanation for that.

My wife told me to lay off the dark beer, or cut down on the tacos. Meanwhile, the dog and the cat blamed each other.

We live in the South End but were at our beach house in RI. The house shook. Last time I experienced exactly the same thing was in Brighton, 1979. Yeah I’m old!

Sorry ‘bout that. Magoo had curry the night before and had explosive diarrhea in the A.M. Magoo.

I live in Medford and was still lazing in bed on a Sunday morning and didn't feel it. However, there is about a 1/4 mile stretch of state highway nearby that has gigantamundous steel plates covering an ongoing trench installation. We hear them rattle when heavy vehicles drive over them.

Except these weren't rattling serially as a truck passed over them - they were rattling all at once. Very thundery sort of sound.
