Storrow overpass remains undefeated

Storrowed truck on its side

The driver of a Frugal Furniture rig showed how it's done this morning on the Fenway off ramp from Storrow Drive outbound, delivering what passing photographer Charley A declared a solid storrowing.

But I expect the furniture will be put back on the shelves. Frugality!

Magoo reckons the driver of that rig made a mess in his or hers frugal panties. A frugal Fanny one might say. Magoo.

The driver is most likely a Magoo relative.

I know you've been asked before Adam, but of all the sources to post, why Magoo?

Magoo can be rather witty at times and I believe he succeeded here! Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the store “Frugal Fanny’s”? Good pun, Magoo!

That looks surprisingly similar to this incident a few years back at the exact same location. https://twitter.com/mattwunderlich/status/1021859383171526658
Maybe they should just close the road for the sake of safety?

It's perfectly safe for car traffic, which is the only thing that is supposed to be on it. If the semi driver's didn't ignore the "no trucks" signs, and didn't ignore the bridge height signs, and didn't hit an angled bridge at speed there wouldn't be a danger here.
There is only so idiot proof you can make something.

I mean--seriously--why are there so many "storrowings" around here, and why are people so damned careless?

It practically defies belief!

But it's a lucky coincidence that the road is called Storrow Drive, otherwise the verb "to Storrow" would make no sense!

Maybe it should be called Sorrow Drive?

It's a failure of leadership.

Even though overheight collisions on Storrow have been happening week after week for decades, DCR insists that signage meets DOT standards, and so they refuse to do anything more about it. The height warning signs haven't changed in at least 30 years. It's easier for DOT staff to point the finger at drivers "ignoring the signs", rather than acknowledge that the signs aren't enough, and make an effort to alleviate the problem.

Obviously, when you have so many different people making the same mistake over and over again, the blame shifts to the lowest common denominator, which is the roadway and signage.

No, it's just bad drivers with some safeties removed.

Nice try though.

The driver really gave it his/her(lol) best shot but the bridge just wanted it more when the chips were down.

Frugal Furniture is a local company. Their drivers should know that Trucks are not allowed on Storrow drive...

Well they're allowed to enter...

they're less frugal with entrances than with exits.

Ah, you've set your expectations way too high.

Is that a Chevy '69? How bizarre.

The latest place the truck could have gotten onto Storrow is at Berkeley St, which means they made it under other ~10ft overpasses, like the pedestrian bridges. Is there another place he could have gotten on after that, that I'm not thinking of?
