Absolutely amazing!

actually had school today with actual class time. They've missed out on so much learning over the past year and already had Monday off.

White Male Headmasters shown, yes.

You omit the wonderful yet still stern Cordelia Kelly who was the first female head of the school, and her successor Lynn Mooney Teta (Class of 86). Do they have their paintings up there yet? I don't know, but to be fair the school was all male until 1972 and Rachael (Class of 95?). is only the fifth person since then to be in charge.

I guess

I don't know about Mooney Teta.

Latin School was boys only until 1972. There has been a female headmaster since 1998.

and let's not forget Girl's Latin was all girls.

It is sad, but we can still dream of the day when BLS will have an Asian headmaster who better matches the makeup of its students.

Not a bad idea, but they can't hire people who don't apply.

If you have someone in mind, encourage them to put their name in the next time the job opens up. I have found that a surprising number of highly qualified people won't consider themselves ready until told "yes, you can and should do this" by another person.

Would they have given her a tribute?

These girls are there because they are smart.

The Republican Party doesn't seem very interested in choosing competent women as Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidates.

VP Harris is VP because a more popular old man chose her.
Her competence didn't show up when she ran an awful campaign for President and her party refused to back her.
Some can pretend the tribute wasn't political but my opinion is it was.

Again, these girls are in BLS for their competence and VP Harris is VP because she chose to accept the offer from a man she disdained while campaigning against him. ...Politics.

Only true in part and only if we allow you to humpty-dumpty the meaning of "popular".

Her competence didn't show up when she ran an awful campaign for President and her party refused to back her.

Not even slightly true, not that you, a spiteful and eternal opponent of "her party", would know.

Some can pretend the tribute wasn't political but my opinion is it was.

In your opinion, anyone other than a straight white Christian man being elevated to a position of prominence is "political", so naturally any tributes to such a person (or the fact of their elevation, which is really what this is about) would seem "political" to you.

Again, these girls are in BLS for their competence and VP Harris is VP because she chose to accept the offer from a man she disdained while campaigning against him. ...Politics.

Shall we go there with the reasons why your manbaby idol chose his running mate and the shiftless grifters who contaminated our government on our watch? Do you really want to do that?

And don't make assumptions about me, you are under the impression I'm a Trump voter?

Your whole reply is a little unhinged.

actually closet Trumpies, and their act is as thin and unconvincing as yours.

Not that I blame you: if I were a Trumpie, I'd be so profoundly embarrassed for myself that I wouldn't admit it to anyone, either.

If it had the right letter after it's name. I'm not one of them.

"I just claimed that someone was unqualified who is more qualified than most VPs because she's not white or male or old ... so why are you angry."

Just. Shut. Up.

Harris was a high level official in a state that could easily be its own G-7 country.

Harris was a senator from a state that could easily be its own G-7 country

Harris absolutely nailed Biden on an issue that he severly needed to be called out on. That he fucking learned from that is amazing.

And her party didn't like her. They chose Biden because they judged his competence much higher than hers. She was an awful candidate and not well liked, but now that she is VP she is being praised as having achieved something wonderful, when in fact is was just backroom political maneuvering.

Everything is political

her party didn’t like her is a separate idea from her being a woman is quite telling

Poll after poll had her as the #1 ranked choice for Biden’s VP all summer.

don't speak for us. The field was chock full of really well qualified candidates but that meant that the votes were spread out instead of concentrated in one or two people. Her party liked her but they thought another person had a better chance of winning and the votes in key states went to him. The other candidates saw the writing on the wall and put their efforts into helping that happen. She was one of many very qualified candidates for the VP spot and people were happy with the choice, even if they hoped it was another person. Again, the others joined in and campaigned for them. This stupid binary mentality of the type who think that super spreader rally attendance is an indication of votes expected would be laughable if they hadn't then tried to attack and execute the legislative branch of the govt. You didn't like her - say that. The rest is bullshit.

Trump is gone and Harris won with Biden and you can quit whining anytime.

In the meantime, you would do well to keep your unqualified opinions about a highly qualified woman that seems to frighten you with her competence to your own sad little self.

Like you'd know?

You better clean out your fridge, son, them grapes are SOUR!

Whether Vice President Harris ran a poor presidential campaign or not has no bearing on her ability to perform the duties of her office. Incompetent people do not build resumes as impressive as Harris’s. But It’s worth noting that she ran quite successful campaigns for DA, AG, and Senator in a state full of high profile and well-funded Democrats.

Conversely, I would point to people that run wildly successful campaigns, like say Donald J Trump, who then go on to expose themselves and their confederates as utterly incompetent and supremely corrupt.

There is no credible argument to be made that Kamala Harris is incompetent or that Harris is not *at least* as competent as the previous 3 white male GOP VPs Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, and Dan Quayle.

In a primary with 29 candidates, no one really looks good. You don't know for how many people she was the second choice or who would in the end have no problem voting for her. That she was elected and reelected as attorney general and then as senator in California says more about her competence than how she did in a primary that was more like a rugby scrum.

Pointing out a problem with an opponent's record is not disdain. It's what you do when running for office. That both Biden and Harris got beyond that and apparently are working well together says the presidency is in the hands of adults.

I was their age when Sandra Day O'Connor was elevated to the Supreme Court.

Many female debaters and honor students like myself disagreed with her politics, but it was still a Very Big Deal and we all cheered her on.
