...incredible 17-year run...

Incredible.
As in "Don't believe WBZ- they can't count/add!"
-
He played 14 seasons, including a total of 9 games in 2018 & 2019 combined. Sure, count 2020 on injury list as 15th season, if you want, but that's it. He was good/great so much of his career, and central to successful Sox teams - no need to oversell it.

17 seasons as a baseball player in the Boston Red Sox organization, but not 17 seasons as a baseball player on the Boston Red Sox.

That's not nuance - it's making stuff up.
They might say "17 years in the Red Sox organization", but it would be 14 (or 15) "years with the Red Sox"

Retired in 2021.

That’s a 17 year run.

It's a bummer his career kind of ended with a whimper due to an endless series of injuries, but I guess that was bound to happen with the way he played the game. I'm glad he was with the Sox for his entire career. He will be missed.

He played the game hard, but his career was ended when dirty Manny Machado, with a history of dirty play, spiked him in the left knee on a dirty slide in 2017. That injury kept flaring up is the main reason he missed so much time since then.

but man does this break my heart. Pedey was one of those players I always “hated” in the rivalry, but respected the hell out of. Cap tip to him, and I hope we get to see him calling or managing games sometime soon.

Pedroia was one of the best 2nd basemen of his generation. Lifetime .299 batting average and had some pop in his bat too. He was like a water bug in the field, gliding to gather up anything hit in his direction. Best of luck in your retirement, sir!
