Every other major news source is commending his achievement. He's also a Boston sports hero...

Adam doesn't post a ton about Boston sports news, I'm ok with a nice calm street scene as an acknowledgement of an event that you can read a lot more about on pretty much any other site.

The ability to be good at playing football does not make someone a hero, he's just another part of the entertainment industry, not that there's anything wrong with that, it has its value and place in our society. But it's not like he ran into a burning building to save someone who was trapped, volunteered as a medic in a war zone, or donated an organ to someone who was going to otherwise die. Let's save the hero talk to people whose accomplishments are actually heroic, rather than an entertainer fulfilling his role as an entertainer.

Some sports figures have earned the description hero, but not for what they do as sports figures. Let's stop devaluing the word.

Looks about right. We used to have a guy with the same name.

to goat.

The wheel turns.

i would imagine that people celebrate in their own homes instead of pouring into streets. We are still in the middle of a pandemic.

Did Biden win the presidential election during a pandemic, and if so, how did the folks in Somerville respond?

We don't get many these days, how are you? And you are quarantining for a couple weeks like our governor asked you to, right?

Oh, am I making an assumption here? Well, anybody who actually lives here might recall what happened Nov. 7, when Biden was declared the winner in Pennsylvania and Nevada, making him the president elect, so only somebody from far away might even ask a question like that (or a dejected loser Trumpie, but I wouldn't dream of insulting you like that).

Davis Square celebrated Biden's win like pretty much everywhere else in the Boston area, people did, in fact, get out in the streets to celebrate (scroll down the story at that link for a couple of videos from, yes, Davis Square).

It was in the high 70s. People walked around, took long bike rides, sat outside, rang church bells 46 times.

Drank champagne while watching the drive-in presser on TV.

It's hard to set fires in the snow.

I imagine most of the country is sick of him, but he's doing something right.

then perhaps there's something wrong with the rules of the game.

I'd say that's true when it's the same teams winning since there are probably rules (or meta-rules?) that allow them to consolidate talented players in one place.

But this is a guy who won a lot on one team and then went to another an won. I'm not sure what rules are wrong.

Personally, I think they should make the ball spherical patchwork of pentagons and hexagons, stop using their hands, remove endzones in favor of, let's call them "goals", and stop wearing all of those pads. I'm not sure too many others agree though.

But this is a guy who won a lot on one team and then went to another an won.

Brady threw 3 TDs and all of them went to ex-Patriots (Gronk x 2 and ex-Pat-for-a-Minute Antonio Brown.)

That was backstopped by a great (non-Patriot) defense, and those ex-Patriots were lining up with a couple of Pro Bowler WRs in Chris Godwin and Mike Evans who helped spread the Chiefs defenders thin.

I'm a bit confused what you think the NFL should be doing to prevent a talented player from leading a bunch of very different teams to championships, doing something different in almost every run.

But I don't see what this has to do with whether the NFL should change the rules to keep him from playing?

Brady's politics stayed away from the stadium and he hasn't used his career to actively promote his views. It's not like he was wearing a MAGA hat during the National Anthem. Most people don't have unlimited freedom to express political speech at work, either.

Kaep's 2016 season (when he started taking a knee during the anthem) was a dumpster fire. The 49ers went 1-10 with him as the starter. He got injured in 2015 and had surgery in the offseason so that would have been a factor.

So couple polarizing political views and a lackluster return from injury and there you have it.

I understand what you are saying, but Brady literally did not keep it away from the stadium when he kept a MAGA hat in his locker in 2015...

Changing the rules, much better than the Tonya Harding approach.

...except when one, as a prominent player, advocates for (and receives) a rule change- then ignores said rule.

But I was rooting for Mahomes last night. It was interesting to be basically rooting against Brady, so I got the feeling of what the rest of the American football loving world has gone through over the past 19 years. I also got that feeling of how great a quarterback Brady is.

I still came away thinking that Mahomes is the future. Even under pressure, he was surprisingly accurate with his passing. If only he could get some protection, he could have a dynasty in KC.

Mahomes was amazing. This pass bounced off the receiver's facemask:

and that would have been a very different game, and we'd be talking about Mahomes as the start of a new dynasty.

Still, that's football and that's the way the oblong spheroid bounces.

Tom, Mr Kraft, where are you?

I opened the Globe this morning and half-expected to see Modell's-style ads for Buccaneers championship gear throughout the paper

Is that the joke?

EDIT: I'm serious, someone explain it to me.

I was pretty sure, but some of the comments had me confused. (I don't follow football particularly closely.)
