This is nothing. I remember in the seventies you couldn't get past caffe nero without getting jumped.

So, because things **used** to be worse, that makes it somehow okay that someone was robbed at gun point?

Thanks, tough guy. I'm sure the person attacked really appreciates your lack of empathy.

Ok, GenZer, time to brush up on Boston history. Remember, thirty years ago they wouldn't even have iPhones to give.

wait what?

I'm confused, can I rob people near BU because it used to be more likely to get robbed there or because there didn't used to iPhones? I just want to make sure I have my explanation prepared.

I'm squarely Gen X and grew up in the South End before it was gentrified.

But let me give you a gold star for being so bad ass that you romanticize the Boston violence from decades ago and disregard that someone was held up at gunpoint yesterday as no great shakes. You really showed me...

So you grew up in the Southie. Does it make you an expert on Brookline crime?

Southie? South End? Surely you jest.

“thegirl” said she grew up in the South End, NOT South Boston. South Boston is known as Southie. The South End is an entirely different neighborhood. You’re really not from Boston or familiar with Boston’s neighborhoods!

who seemed to think that Boston was in the "worst crisis it's ever been in"? Did you ever get around to brushing up on Boston history yourself?

First of all, there was no Caffe Nero in the 70s. And, as somebody over 60, I can tell you there was nothing particularly dangerous about that area in the 70s.

BU Police are reporting a suspect was arrested during an attempted armed robbery Thursday night at the Target Store at 860 Comm Ave:

The suspect arrested matched the description provided by witnesses in the Dummer St incident and was in possession of a uniquely described pellet gun. Based upon other evidentiary findings, BUPD will be charging this individual with crimes connected to the Dummer St incident.

One of my favorite stories from a celebrity was Jason Alexander going to BU and having to use his martial arts skills to fight someone off in front of the BU school of fine arts. He could easily have dodged that pinch from Richard Gere in “Pretty Woman” - but true story.

For me the turning point in west campus / Allston was during the 90s two guys tried to rob someone on a phone at gun point and the dude whirled around with a samurai sword and attacked them back. Good times.
