Man charged with trying to shoot two other men to death on Ruggles Street in Roxbury, only he missed 12 times

Boston Police report arresting a man they say tried shooting two other men in a car on Annunciation Road on May 17, only he missed.

Police say Steven Velasquez, 27, fired at a car in the area of 59 Ruggles St. shortly before 10:30 p.m. He hit the car, but missed the people, police say, adding that officers found a dozen spent shells at the scene.

Velasquez was arrested yesterday morning on Deering Road in Mattapan on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Two blocks from a police station. Scratch that: police headquarters. Shouldn’t criminals be afraid that the police will get there and find them fast, or do the police just not respond? (Also the drug dealing at the 7-11 next to E-5.)
