No holiday for the trash man this week. Check your pickup schedule - and see that it's the same as it usually is.

We thought it would be a day late.

I was looking through to find out when to recycle some old electronics I had, and for whatever reason, I looked up trash collection thinking it would be a day late too. Good thing I looked!

I was reading the 311 complaints this morning. They've switched from fireworks complaints to complaints about trash being picked up on a day that everyone assumed would be treated like a holiday.

You read 311 regularly?

.. but I read it on occasion for whatever reason. Today I read it because of your question and found this 311 that made me laugh:

Big thanks for that. My sked on the fridge (printed at the beginning of the year from the city site for my address) plainly shows today as skipped with pickup tomorrow.

Going back to the city site and regenerating a calendar has today as a pickup.

Pretty sneaky

Thank you Adam!! I would have totally assumed trash pick up was delayed by 1 day.

Is that accurate though? I just checked the City of Revere website and they're also indicating normal trash pickup schedule. I could of sworn the same thing happened on Memorial Day Monday, but it was corrected the next day. I assume on a holiday there is no one available to update the information. I'm guessing this is what is happening here.

Judging by the number and nature of complaints on Boston's 311 system today, yes, Boston was picking up Monday trash on Monday.

But it should be noted that the trash men never get a holiday. The only thing that happens is that their Saturday off gets moved to another day.

If you download the city's trash collection app, it’ll warn you about trash collection every day before your street gets picked up. It’ll also tell you about special recycling events, and all the things you can and can’t recycle like milk jugs (yes) and cartons (surprisingly, no).
