Woman shot to death in Roslindale Square

Update: Victim identified as Alicia Heywood, 42, of Easton.

Boston Police report a woman was shot at Birch and Corinth streets in Roslindale Square shortly before 1:20 p.m.

She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

WBZ reports police do not believe the shooting was random.

This is Roslindale's first murder since a man was shot to death on Paine Street in November, 2019.

Not clear walking by shortly afterwards if the cops, you know, got the shooter yet? I assume they did or there would have been a lot more cops visible on the neighboring streets (where there were not) but then I think that detail would have been reported.

Please post updates to this story - - if the victim is ok, what the motive was (I heard possibly a car-jacking or domestic dispute), if the shooter was apprehended. Thank you Adam.

There was a daytime murder of a woman in Dorchester less than a year ago, right? Then the woman burned alive and thrown out of a car in Hyde Park? Not much follow up on that one in the media. Did they ever make any arrests for the burning?

One thing I had hoped for from Rollins' philosophy of non-prosecution of minor crimes was that police and prosecutors would have more time to address serious crimes like this one, to improve their arrest and conviction rates for acts of barbaric violence, cruelty and extreme malice.

I hope the BPD catch and lock up the scumbag who murdered this woman.

No, it's just the opposite. Decreased prosecution just emboldens lawbreakers. It's also a lost opportunity to stop get ahead of violence like this crime. Domestic abusers also tend to break so-called minor offences too.
