Bullets fly again in Cambridge's Port; seven cars strafed

Cambridge Police report six cars parked at Main and Portland streets were hit with gunfire around 2:10 a.m. - with another car parked a couple blocks away at Portland and Harvard streets also getting a fresh bullet hole.

No people were hit, police say.

One witness flagged down an Officer and reported seeing a sedan drive up Main Street and take a right onto Columbia Street. At this time, there have been no arrests made in association with this shooting. Officers will be processing evidence from the gunshots, as well as securing a search warrant for one of the struck vehicles that had been taken into custody.

Police say that nine of the eleven gunfire incidents in Cambridge this year have happened in the Port - five since July 15.

Police have stepped up their patrols but have yet to capture any gun-happy suspect. Anybody with information on the latest incident or earlier ones can contact police at 617-349-3300 or the anonymous tip line by calling 617-349-3370 or texting 847411.

On Monday, concerned residents rallied outside City Hall to demand more action.
