DA: Party at downtown hotel with two men, four girls ended when one of the men accidentally shot one of the girls in the head

A Hyde Park man already facing charges gun charges in another case was ordered to stay at home at his arraignment on charges of involuntary murder and unlawful possession of a firearm for the death of Nalijah Andrade, 17, of New Bedford in a room at the Hyatt Regency on Avenue de Lafayette on Feb. 4, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Diane Freniere also set bail at $25,000 for Messiah Leggett, 21, of Hyde Park - and ordered him to wear a GPS device to ensure he doesn't leave his house.

A second man, Kenny Jnleys, faces arraignment on Oct. 5 on gun charges in connection with Andrade's death, according to the DA's office, which provided this account of how she died:

Assistant District Attorney Andrew Kettlewell told the court that Mr. Leggett, Mr. Jnleys, four juvenile females - including Ms. Andrade - and others were gathered in adjoining hotel rooms at the Regency Boston on the night of February 4, 2021. Evidence gathered through the course of an extensive investigation by Boston Police homicide detectives indicates that the individuals were partying, drinking and taking selfies - including photos of members of the group posing with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol that Mr. Jnleys allegedly had in his possession. At approximately 11:30 p.m., Mr. Leggett was handling the gun in a playful manner when Ms. Andrade swatted at his hand, causing him to accidentally discharge a single round of ammunition. The bullet struck the victim in the head, killing her.

Innocent, etc.

Let me make sure I understand this one.

A guy who is already facing gun charges brings a gun to a party with underaged girls, shoots one the girls in the head, kills her, and is then allowed to stay in the comfort of his home as long as he promised not to leave??

Restorative justice. The DA cares not only about victims.

At least as the legal process works itself out, his food and shelter will not cost the taxpayers anything. Assuming he can post bail.
