Two-alarm fire heavily damages Brighton house; but both cats inside rescued

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 572 Washington St. for what turned into a two-alarm fire around 1:30 p.m.
The fire displaced eight people and two cats, one of which was carried out by its owner, the other which was rescued by firefighters.
The fire heavily damaged the second and third floors and the roof, the department reports.
