White supremacist heiling Hitler on a rainy Brookline street

Hugmajesty reports that this morning, a white supremacist was on Beacon Street at Dean Road harassing people - yelling "Heil Hitler" and making white-power symbols at people walking by.

She adds he was a skinny guy, maybe in his 30s, wearing a MAGA hat.

But you don't dare suggest that Republicans are white supremacists!

And don't suggest Republicans are the ones wearing MAGA hats, either.

It's an old defense, but it checks out.

Makes me think about the old Simpsons joke

Fox News, we're not racist
But #1 with racists

so our various Hitler sympathizing posters will most likely pivot to lecturing us on the dangers of painting with a broad brush or whatever

...it was economic anxiety made him do it.

Economic anxiety makes a lot of people do stuff that they wouldn't ordinarily do during less tense times.

If a little economic anxiety turns you into a fucking Nazi, the problem doesn't lie with the economic anxiety.

Must send Shirley Leung on a Cletus Safari to find out.

"how do you know he's a white supremacist?"

I suppose he could be one of those Hitler fans that isn't. I mean, some guy on Twitter seems to think they exist, right?

Hitler and Nazi imagery is rather popular in south Asia and other places in the region. While some of those people may have weird beliefs about their own genetic/ethnic superiority I don't think we can classify them as white supremacists.

But I have to confess, I didn't expect the end of the American experiment to be this quick and this goddamned stupid.

Sometimes I see a tall, skinny white guy in a Confederate flag sweatshirt and MAGA hat in that neighborhood or in the Star Market on Beacon Street. Probably the same person?

The tweeter says he was "Heiling hitler and making other white power symbols", but here it says "yelling". So was he yelling or making white gang signs at people, or both?

The other possibility is that a Twitter addict saw a guy in a red hat hail a cab.

are bringing back child labor in the midwest. Though abhorrent, it is the natural outcome of corporatism, who are about to realize their wildest dreams of the end of the independent mind.

That's the best we have to look forward to here. The worst is actually not thinkable, at least not if you wan't to keep your lunch down.

In the first, certainly more welcome to many people scenario, the public civic awareness/consciousness will be regressed to what it was during the Roman Empire. Complete with no protections for minors.

I know, it's a nightmare I'm having while awake, I mean that couldn't possibly happen, could it?

Prominent republicans (Newt Gingrich springs to mind) have been trying to weaken and eliminate child-labor restrictions for many years. They really are the regressive party. Don't vote for them.
