Ed. election-night note: Perhaps, based on tonight's results, I should have gone with a headline like "Tiny minority of MAGAts waste money to rent electric signboard in West Roxbury."
Election Day dawned at the Holy Name Rotary in West Roxbury as it always does: With the fence along Holy Name School festooned with candidate signs. This year, they were joined with a highway sign blaring out the phrase the slightly more polite insurrection supporters use instead of "Fuck Joe Biden."

There is a rampant Trumper or group of them, particularly active around the Dorchester/North Quincy Line. LGB was spray painted on the bill board for a school, by Morrissey Blvd next to Lamberts. Coincidence they chose a billboard that includes students of multiple races? Doubt it.
Traffic signs on Morrissey as it heads to Gallivan Blvd, as well as light poles on the bridge to Quincy, have been defaced with "DT24" stickers for a few months now. They get removed and re-appear. We all know what they really mean, and it is meant to intimidate.I am surprised (but shouldn't be) that it is not investigated.

Former Dot person here. It is easy as hell to climb up there. We did as kids. Before the commuter rail came back you could walk the tracks from Victory Road to Neponset Circle since a train only came by about once a year and then not at all in the late 80's until 1997.
Yes, there is someone putting that stuff out there but that billboard could have been advertising Tangerines and someone would have still painted it.
As far as being intimidated? You are? Fight back. If you are scared of one or two people sneaking around in the middle of the night posting stickers, you might already be lost.
Be brave and tell them to F'off.

I was going to bother with some explanation about why "fighting back" against hateful people can't happen for everyone and it can be dangerous, even life threatening. For example, would you like your grandparent, frail child, or just a regular guy who doesn't fight much, to confront angry white supremacists alone in the street at night? But, trying to make that understood is futile, and its nothing you would have to worry about anyway. Crazy, I am actually feeling a little betrayed and disappointed here, because in the past I used to like most of what you had to say, but things have changed.

What's next, "Whites Only" at Tenean Beach? If you took a drive by there any time of year you would likely see a majority minority demographic among users. The biggest complaint of the people living right there is that they see little children playing in the hot sand without a decent shower or spray deck, and water which is unfit for swimming more often than any beach in the DCR system. As it is, that beach in Port Norfolk/Neponset is accessible from Mattapan by a bike path and system of parks which exist because of over 30 years of advocacy by residents from that neighborhood, Cedar Grove, and Lower Mills. Get off your stereotyping high horse and get involved with some real people in real neighborhoods, and perhaps you might start speaking from personal knowledge.

Drove by at 5:30PM as a pair of guys with a BainCor Inc. truck were shutting the sign down, looked like they were going to detach it from the Lincoln and attach it to their truck. Didn’t stop to ask.
