Three officers shot, suspect dead, after hours-long standoff on Ferndale Street in Dorchester
By adamg on Tue, 11/09/2021 - 3:46pm
The shootings were around 3:20 p.m. on Ferndale Street near Codman Square, where police had been trying to extract a man who'd barricaded himself in a building there around 9:30 a.m.
Live Boston reports the barricaded man died.
A "code 303" was declared, which means at least one officer fired his or her gun.
On Saturday, a BPD officer was stabbed in the neck responding to a domestic-violence call in Roxbury. The suspect in that case also died.
Like the job UHub is doing? Consider a contribution. Thanks!
its been a tough week for boston police. i hope everyone is ok
There saying 2 officers shot " as adam said" sorry it's crazy over here high anxiety.
I work at BMC, and Albany Street is locked down. BPD Special ops is heading out.
Speedy recovery for the officers.
What a tough situation to respond to. Can’t imagine a job where you show up and risk getting shot.
According to various reporters' Twitter feeds
Two officers have non-life threatening injuries, suspect is dead..
It's been a tough year for cops
And their families. They have been unfairly blamed for bad policies, bad laws, and no backing from city and state leaders. My prayers go out to officers and their families.
For stealing money with fake overtime.
For attacking people legally using a skate park.
For having newsletters that ooze racism and facism.
For starting riots by attacking peaceful demonstrators.
For throwing tantrums over vaccination mandates that apply to many other public sector workers.
Shall I go on? Maybe if police would accept that those city and state officials get to tell them what to do and that THE LAWS APPLY TO THEM, TOO there wouldn't be the problem of thinking they can just make shit up and do what they want and then whine to people like you about how unfair it is when they get caught?
Not the day for this. Relax the hate for a few hours please.
Pointing out theft and racism
Pointing out theft and racism and stupidity isn’t “hate”.
All you do is hate, Kinopio, so I wouldn't expect you to have a human reaction to today's events.
she didn't start it
do we need anon posters? It is one thing to recognize how difficult policing is. It is something else to pretend they are victims.
I just say no to Anons. Not worth a reply. Although I frequently disagree with Swrlz, I respect her and her opinions. No respect for Anons. They just take up space.
So where exactly is your dog in this hunt?
I thought Swirly was heartless to attack generic police on a day three of them were shot trying to retrieve a mentally deficient man from a barricaded apartment without killing him, and then having to suffer that failure by killing him while being shot. I have bad days at work but not like that. But Swirly decided this was an appropriate time to go on a screed against "cops" even if not actually these Boston Police.
So I asked her to stop the hate for a while. Kinopio is just an ass who can't help being who he is. The anon is just a black spot and I didn't even really consider what (s)he wrote. Swirly is better than her post and she knows it.
I didn't see this as a political event. I saw it as human failure and pain. It was not the time to pile other peoples' faults on the officers heads who just had a very bad day.
That is my dog. I wasn't hunting.
Dude, come on
She didn't "attack generic police", she responded to a bit of hyperbole stating that cops are "unfairly blamed for bad policies", at a time in which individual cops, and police culture, have recently been clearly worthy of blame for a number of egregious failings, which she detailed. It wasn't "cop hate". Slow your roll.
They have been unfairly
this is what she responded to. cmon.
give the smarm a break
anon posted something inherently controversial and SwirlyGrrl responded
What? You’re entering Magoo
What? You’re entering Magoo sez territory with the irrelevancy of your comments.
Totally for holding cops and all public employees held accountable and criminally liable if necessary for corruption.
But you’re talking about skateboards and Boston cops protesting the vaccine? I think the staties protested the vaccine but that’s irrelevant about a post about a bunch of cops being shot today.
anon posted (emphasis mine):
if SwirlyGrrl’s comment is irrelevant then so is the bolded portion of anon’s comment, no?
That explains the 4 news
That explains the 4 news helicopters that have been buzzing above my job site for about an hour.
I am not sure what's the value of this sensational coverage but there is nothing quite like extensive helicopter footage of a bloody Dorchester crime scene to juice up those local TV ratings (and sell more advertising).
Anyone else watching the Rachael Rollins press conference?
Someone is off-camera yelling at her while she's trying to talk.
Police commissioner says 3 officers were wounded.
To answer my own question
It was Joao Depina, last seen berating former commissioner Gross at the scene of a triple shooting in the South End last year. Ironically he was calmed down by Rachael Rollins, whome he has since turned against.
But is there enough officers
But is there enough officers left to drive the mayor around?
So, since you're not
So, since you're not from Boston, where DID you get that poor excuse for an education?
