Maskless, backwards-caps dudes sought for September beatdown in Fenway

Boston Police are seeking the public's help to identify the pack of bros who beat a man at Lansdowne and Ipswich streets early on Sept. 9.
Police say the mean beat their victim severely enough he needed hospitalization for serious injuries, around 12:30 a.m. a few hours after the end of a Sox/Rays game at which fans were given Alex Verdugo bobbleheads.

True, they aren't expected to wear codpieces either, and the lack of them doesn't distinguish them. But people wearing masks are possibly more common than you think, especially near a mass gathering.

If the question was why did Adam describe them that way, then I find that response to be a perfectly plausible reason for why, considering we are living in a time where it is normal to see many people outdoors in the city wearing masks, whether or not they are legally required to do so.

And everybody is easier to identify if we can see their face. So being maskless makes you easier to identify. But the previous posters asserted that describing these miscreants as maskless makes them easier to identify.

Outdoors
Are masks actually mandated outdoors in Boston? I see some people with and some without when walking around downtown. Obviously in a crowd one should mask, but is it required when just walking down the street?

Yes seriously - they appear to be walking on a public sidewalk in Boston. Are they required to wear masks? Do you wear a mask when you’re walking outside, on a public sidewalk? If you do that’s a personal choice but I know if no mandate by the city or the CDC that requires it. None of this excuses any of their violent behavior and hopefully they get caught and charged.

Wear a mask outdoors that is. Even though I've been immunized and have the documentation to prove it I'd rather be safe than sorry. What I don't do is hunt in packs. Next year I plan on wearing a mask in Springtime. I haven't had any allergy symptoms since I started wearing them.

At the time (early Sept.) Boston had just enacted an indoor mask order and CDC advisory (early Aug) said if you can't distance outdoors (6') then you should mask-up. CT enacted the CDC advisory statewide on Aug 7, MA did not.
The perps were reportedly maskless and should be easier to identify as a result.. .

1) This is an awfully stupid thing to comment on. This comment - like your racist username - is deliberately divisive for no reason.
2) Like many idiot criminals, they were thoughtfully going maskless instead of wearing something that could conceal their identity. So it’s worth pointing out.
3) If you’re in the Fenway shortly after a Red Sox game, wearing a mask outdoors is in fact a good idea. Especially since Red Sox fans (aka right-wing white people) are disproportionately unvaccinated.

1) I agree there are stupid comments on this page - horrific incidents get very little commenter attention while comments about bike lanes or if a neighborhood was properly identified in a story goes UHub viral. You saying that my user name is racist would probably also fall in the stupid comment category.
2) You are correct that committing a crime and not attempting to hide your identity is idiotic, though the fact that they were not wearing a mask on a public street outside is irrelevant. There have been many other pictures posted where the lack of a mask was not highlighted.
3) That is your opinion on if wearing a mask outside is a “good idea” or not, but I would guess that of all the major Boston sports teams Red Sox fans are the least right wingy. No idea how you formed your opinion that they are disproportionately unvaxed but feel free to cite a source on that.

The Schlub Look
I see they are all festooned in "the schlub look" the uniform that has been the de rigeur uniform of American males ages 8-60 since the early 90s. Baseball cap (backwards a plus), bulky T shirt, baggy shorts and big sneakers. As the wearer gets older, this uniform just screams "I am unaware".

I like Aaron Rodgers
He made some bad decisions, misleading the public and his teammates and the league and consulting with Dr. Joe Rogan on personal health decisions.
But there is a stark contrast in how the NFL treated Aaron Rodgers versus how the NFL treated Colin Kaepernick. They treated Colin as a criminal and everything possible was done to make an example of him to insure there wouldn't be any more like him. He took a knee for social injustice and that was intolerable to the NFL and others.
