Brookline starts a vaccine mandate for indoor spaces on Saturday as well

WBZ reports that, like in Boston, people who want to dine in or go to a theater or gym in Brookline will have to show proof they got at least one Covid-19 shot starting on Saturday. Also as in Boston, the requirement moves to two shots (except for people who got a J&J shot) a month later.

That makes things less confusing along the Comm Ave isthmus, where you can be standing on the street in Boston but the restaurant in front of you is in Brookline.

Of course, it would be even less confusing (and safer) if this were a statewide rule.

Cambridge Day article

Against a backdrop of what Cambridge’s chief public health officer called “uncontrolled transmission” of Covid-19, City Manager Louis A. DePasquale said Monday that the city won’t require restaurants, fitness centers and other indoor public spaces to mandate Covid-19 vaccination for their customers and workers as Boston and neighboring communities have done.

“Cambridge is different than New York and Boston that are enacting vaccine mandates,” DePasquale told city councillors. “Throughout the pandemic, we are prioritizing education and outreach over punitive enforcement.”

As a Somerville resident, I'm way more than glad that happened.

The vaccine mandate isn't about being punitive.

What's DePasquale trying to accomplish here? He just lost my vote. (Oh wait...)

Governor Baker should've implemented a mandatory Bay State vaccine mandate, as well as a state indoor mask mandate a long time ago. The fact that he didn't do that was a very big, bad, and dangerous mistake on his part. Shame on him!

Chucklehead Charlie is the lamest of ducks. We can look forward to nothing but cowardice and inaction for the rest of his term.
