Article is about Bonds and Roger Clemens not getting in and being removed from the Ballot this year

Not a Roger fan but I thought he'd earned a spot.

Schilling should just, well, schill.

Schilling didn't. Schilling put up HOF worthy numbers in the thick of the steroid era and dominated in the postseason. I don't like the guy personally, but to pretend he doesn't deserve to be in is disingenuous, just say you don't like his politics. If you believe a "character clause" should truly keep him out, let me introduce you to Ty Cobb, Cap Anson, Rogers Hornsby and, the ultimate piece of irony, the BBWAA inducted pedophile journalist, Bill Conlin.

FYI, I think all PED players should be in. They were/are a part of the game. The Hall should explain it, not run from it. And, there's literally no reason to keep Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod, Manny, Sosa, Palmiero, etc out now that Ortiz is in. He's just as dirty as the rest, the only difference is, he was nice to the media.

neo-Nazis nor vax disinformation spreaders. Fuck Schil and his long career of broadcasting hate and lethal stupidity on social media. It's not just politics when what you spew gets people killed.

Taking a stance on character is a good reflection on the Hall, and no one deserved more to tweet himself out of it than that utter turd of a human being.

Sir, Ty Cobb tried to kill a black man for shaking his hand, and when the mans wife tried to stop Cobb, he nearly choked her death. Rogers Hornsby was literally in the KKK. As I mentioned, Bill Conlin raped children. But, yea, go off on vax disinformation spreaders.

There's many more examples here, but it's not worth mentioning because you are nowhere near prepared to have this conversation.

from the Hall, I will back it. Character matters, and Schilling is a human stain.

Nice argument you got there: "We have let loathsome, awful people in the Hall before: why stop now?"

My argument is that if we're letting people in based on numbers, let them all in. If character matters, clean house.

I feel like you know this (or, at least you should), but you have some hair across your ass about me that compels you to argue everything I say. I thought we could all agree that all of these are all terrible people, but I guess not.

also think the PED users should get in at this point, though I didn't used to.

I disagree that vax denial is "just politics": it gets people killed, especially coming from a person that some folks (especially younger fans) look up to and listen to. But in terms of Schil's awfulness, vax denial is just the tip of the iceberg. He's an equal-opportunity bigot. The Hall is right to shun him.

One of the most hated humans in New England.

and screw Shank. I don't know why he hates Ortiz so much; you'd think he was Ahab and Ortiz Moby Dick.

On his induction, because he doesn't need the affirmation of the body who inducted him, for they are petty and embarrassing.

David, you were there in October, and you're one of the funniest (expletives) ever. Thank you for everything.

Yet, he does have a point. Not sure what torch the HOF is holding….

The Globe has a brief bit on responses from Schilling and Clemens. Clemens is predictable; it’s all about himself, how he doesn’t really care, hasn’t thought about the Hall of Fame in years, along with a bunch of self-infatuated blather that makes it sound like he’s running for God. Schilling, surprisingly, focuses on Ortiz, with praise and congratulations. He does point out, in passing, how wise and noble he is for doing this, but for him, this is practically self-deprecation.

It's not lost on me that he is airing his grievances about the decision of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, a select group of which is he a voting member.

His fellow voters decided that Ortiz was worthy of election, and he was elected even without the support of a local guy that you might assume would owe some loyalty. I don't pay too much attention to baseball these days but I will respect the outcome of this and every election this group holds.
