Boston city-council president: Nazis out of Boston!

The same ragged little group of Nazis who have tried to look scary outside a Jamaica Plain bookstore spent some time last month outside Brigham and Women's Hospital hiding behind their neck gaiters and holding a sign about the hospital killing White people.

And so it is, nearly 77 years after Hitler blew his brains out, Boston City Council President Ed Flynn yesterday issued a statement denouncing Nazis and their fellow travelers.

Flynn said he's had enough with Nazis and their sympathizers - from Charlottesville and Orlando marchers to 1/6 insurrectionists to Maus-banning and book burning Tennesseans to swastika scrawlers at Boston-area high schools and Curry College.

It is extremely disturbing to hear about the increased activities from neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups locally, although we should not be surprised, unfortunately. We continue to see more and more disgusting incidents across our country that occur openly in broad daylight that include Nazis flags and symbols of hate and bigotry. ...

It is incumbent upon all of us to acknowledge and call out the growing extremism and creeping hate in our country when we see it. We must always stand with the Jewish community and our communities of color, educate our children about the horrors of the past so that history does not repeat itself, and make clear to neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups that they are not welcome and will never represent our values.

That such things need to be said is a sad commentary on the current state of affairs, but they do need to be said. I am once more reminded of how glad I am to live in Massachusetts, where officials will stand and deliver, unlike, for instance Florida, whose governor takes umbrage at being asked to denounce Nazis.

Well, DeSantis doesn't want to alienate his base, after all.

Violence is never the answer, unless it supports your position, I guess?! You’re a loser.

Did you wake up extra cranky today because Elon made another billion?

LOL I feel great, man! Not really interested in hearing both sides of the argument on whether or not I should be exterminated for being a Jew though.

There used to be a cut of this video synced with New Order’s classic Blue Monday where Spencer gets punched over and over as the drum beat hits. I can’t seem to find it because the violence and copyright situation seems to violate most platforms’ TOS. But it is enjoyable.

I have no truck with "both sides reported" when anti-Gay bigots clammer for space in any news organization. Bigotry has no claim to being taken as anything other than bigotry.

Teach the controversy of both sides reporting.

But you assumed I wasn’t. You’re a disgrace.

I didn't assume anything about you. I said that I am Jewish. Put your reading glasses on.

You support violence when it fits your narrative. Great!

Correct. If somebody is advocating for my extermination, I have no problem with that person being punched. Violence begets violence.

in the propaganda for creating a "pure race." The actually infection is bigotry against any group. Just as a strep infection needs to be cured from the body this social infection needs to be cured from the nation body.

This has nothing to do with tolerance. It's about stopping evil in its tracks.

So violence is ok when you say so? That’s how it works?

You’re no better than Trumpies. Wait a second… who did you vote for? I have a feeling I already know with your support of violence.

It's time to outlaw neck gaiters.

Mr. Flynn has a very good grasp of the obvious.

Mr. Flynn has a very good grasp of the obvious.

I thought his understanding was better than average, and his expression of that is a cut above the usual mumbled platitudes.

At the bottom of their flyer is printed, in caps and bold of course, "we will not tolerate the genocide of the people who founded this city!"

I realize that any kind of NAZI has mind is deeply messed up, possibly disturbed in untreatable ways and is solidly anchored in world where violence is their god. But some are still pretty smart, albeit shallow and irredeemably evil. Was the writer actually thinking about the NAZI history found in the word genocide or amazingly stupid? Perhaps both.

Evil will always find ways to exert itself. A psychic illness like an incurable virus that makes itself known from time to time. Right now that virus is flaring up in the body politic. It can not be cured. But at least when the majority of the body that wants to ignore the presence of the disease can not, not see it, then I just hope that the treatment of the current flareup exists in its exposure to daylight.

Trump didn't cause the disease. But he did cause it to be so obvious it is hard to pretend we are not suffering from the symptoms of the disease
