The future's not so bright for pair who had to steal shades, police say

Boston Police report arresting a pair of alleged thieves who made off with $4,000 worth of sunglasses from the Prudential Center Mall before being arrested behind a parked car a few blocks away where they were trying in vain to hide from officers looking for them.

Police say Michael Alexander, 50, of Randolph and Mayra Dejesus, 48, of Roxbury, made off with the sunglasses around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday.

As responding officers began to canvass the area, they observed both parties attempting to hide near a parked motor vehicle in the area of 189 St. Botolph St.

Alexander was charged with larceny over $1,200 and Dejesus with being an accessory after the fact, police say, adding that Alexander was already wanted on a shoplifting warrant out of North Attleboro District Court and Dejesus on warrants for shoplifting and larceny out of Wrentham District Court.

Innocent, etc.

The choice is up to you, 'cause they come in two classes,
rhinestone shades or cheap sunglasses.

They forgot to get the pairs with the glass so dark, no one else would even know their names.

That’s about 20 pairs, probably even less if they were more designerthan my polarized RayBans.

Just curious, I figured only older types would get it, like 50+.

I hated that song in the 80s. It was so, uh, EIGHTIES. THAT'S what "yuppies" were all about. I see that some people still use that dated phrase today, but yuppies were of a time.

Dukakis referenced the song after he was re-elected governor in 1986.

And still lives by it:

Actual wholesale value... $500. Maybe less.

I wear my sunglasses at night so it makes sense they were probably boosted in the afternoon. How delightful.
